Hi,
I've just experienced the dreaded 'EAS FAULT: max speed 35mph' problem on my P38 1997 4.6 petrol HSE RR.
First stop - Google, and I've found tons of useful info, including stuff about 'EAS Kicker' and making up your own ODB-II to serial cable and resetting the problem with a laptop.
So far, so good, BUT... Among the zillions of threads stating, "this fix will get you home/to a garage, where you can have the problem fixed", etc... I can't seem to find anything on the 'net about how far the vehicle will go before the ECU dumps the EAS on to the bump stops again.
What if my home/garage is 200 miles away? Does anybody know just how long/far it will be before the ECU does the same, 'cos it's not worth shelling out for ANY hardware if the temporary fix is a matter of minutes, or 1 mile...
Any help appreciated.
Cheers,
Max
