I need help with 1 simple measurement...............

Could you please measure and post up the measurement as follows :

Placing a 16 inch bar acrosss the OUTSIDE of the rim face.

Then place a tape measure - by hooking the tape measure on the INSIDE lip - (ie the part that meets and bolts to the hub) of the wheel centre

and then Measure from the inside of the wheel centre to the outside edge of the front part of the rim

    Inchs or mm PLEASE !

    Ta everso............

    Nige

OK i have just measured mine up and 111mm, but i think they may come in different offsets, mine were from devon 4x4 and were ordered for a standard 90 so they should be ok, hope this helps.

  2. I have not been in southampton long and I need to set up a tig welder, does anyone have any contacts for getting argon gas in or around Southampton, if i need to set up an account with boc or air services thats fine but I cant find anywhere that does it in large bottles only those little disposable ones.

  3. Oy you lot rich did not break down, he had thermostat trouble and couldnt get another one, I want it recorded that I made my own way there and my own way back without the aid of others, and towing the trailer. That is dummy out of pram - but only cos the racer is going on monday its sold {sounds of sobbing as he exits left}

  4. OOPs thanks to those of you who pointed out it was not Bearmach but BRITPART who dont sell thermostats at shows, even when they have one. (I have ammended the origional post)

Four of us did go round the other stalls but no one had any, except BRITPART.

The problem with running without one is that the housing wont seal without one, it has a rubber seal that sits between the housings and also the bottom button on the thermostat diverts the water flow to the radiator when the engine is hot. If you take the center out, the water will take the flow of least resistance, which I guess is round and round the engine and not via the radiator. Well at least it appeared to up birdlip hill, must find another way home mmmmm up to cumbria across to leeds and down the m1 now theres a thought

  5. mmmm Birdlip Hill screwed my temp completely had to stop and let the bubbling niose subside, fortunately I don' t think that the engine is damaged. May not have happened if BRITPART who had the only thermostat for a 300tdi in the show would have sold it to me, but they wouldnt as they said it was in a new engine and they might forget to replace it before it was sold.

Shame on you BRITPART I thought the landrover community was about helping each other out .

Last weekend we were replacing a gearbox on a 110 for someone who was on their way to croatia and you guys couldnt even sell me a thermostat - My next project starting this month will require an investment of about £10k i can tell you that you wont see a penny of it!

The readers of this forum - make what you will of this post.

  6. A Ma-hoooooooosive Thank you to Fridge and Mr Ashcroft... I feel a small explanation should be given.

Some friends of ours have been planning a trip down to Croatia in their Camel 110 for some months, on Friday they finally left Yorkshire heading for Dover. They made it there and finally arrived in France in the early hours of Saturday morning. After grabbing a couple of hours kip they got on their way again but 30 miles away from Dunkirk (sp?) a horrible grinding noise started. They enquired at a Landy dealer in France who said they thought it was the gearbox and could do the job on Tuesday and the vehicle would be ready for Wednesday :( They finally decided to head back to the UK and arrived back in Kent on Saturday afternoon. By this point things were sounding rather nasty. I got on the phone and called everyone I knew to try to get hold of an R380, but for some bizarre reason, everybody I knew wanted to keep there gearboxes in their vehicles (including me!!) Anyway, a friend and I legged it up to Kent yesterday and hoiked the gearbox out, as you do. The main shaft seems to have a vast amount of play in it. This is when I phoned Fridge, as being in deepest darkest Kent, they don't have internet access there ;) He kindly posted up our cry for help. Less than an hour later... and on a Sunday... I get a call from Dave Ashcroft :o:i-m_so_happy:

So, a gearbox is now being built as we speak at Ashcrofts, and after I finish work 2day, I'm heading back to Kent to help refit new box.

This is what makes this forum, and the people that use it, great

So hopefully, by late this evening, their gearbox will be fitted and they can be on their way again :)

Dave, a million thanks for calling me yesterday, and helping out by getting a box ready... if you at Malvern, I'll buy you a pint or six.

    Thanks! :):):)

Well its nice to know you consider me a friend but can you really get a bit quicker at doing up the rear proshafts, in the two boxes we did over the weekend it took you ages, even with my magic propshaft bolt tool !!!! :hysterical:
