would it be worth asking somewhere that refurbs/remakes starter motors? those are similar power/size DC motors arent they?
The guy I'm on about does those sorts of things. Can't find his card, but he works out of a shed off East street in Westbourne. There's a short lane off to the right (coming from the square as it were) and easy to miss, leads to a very small industrial/workshop type place.
Sorry to be so vague, but I've found him very useful in the past.

I'm afraid to say that if its needs anything other than brushes, its more economical to bin it and purchase a shiney new one!
I looked into this a few years ago. Could find plenty of places that re-wound motors, but none that would do a DC one. All apparently only deal with AC ones.

There a chap in Emsworth will do them, and he's prices are ok - not got his details to hand, but will try and dig 'em out for ya.

I's been given the job of "decorating" the tower crane we have on site here
Any clever ideas out there?
Bear in mind that there's not a huge budget or I would go for the full on architectural stuff B)

Mike,
Is this going to be one of those "drive-it-like-you-stole-it" tours, or a gentle potter?

While at the scappy look out for "plug-n-play" diodes as well - they can be very useful in some Electrickery circuits

490 1st attempt - now back to looking busy...
-
Does any one know (of course they do) how I can set Jules's laptop to automatically shut down at 4pm, and then not reboot until 8am?
Stand by the plug and flick the little red/white switch at 4pm... make sure you're there again at 8am and 'repeat process in reverse'

First phase of the long promised improvements.
Any ideas what else I should include or elaborate on?
How about a real time supermarket Hobnob price comparrison?
Well it seems you've covered everything else
Like the roll cage btw B)

Oh dear. Jules I may be Very Busy today

I'm already here
If I was in charge I would just shoot all the people that waste time and natural resources thinking up lots of stupid f****g ideas about saving the planet none of which will ever make it in to production because they are all so cr&p that nobody will use them. That in itself must be a huge waste of resources! And then shoot all the people that make normal people try to use those ideas by taxing anything that people already use out of existence.
Bah humbug
Wouldn't they then complain about all the Land fill you'd have created

Off Roading at Hindhead!
in International Forum
Posted
Spotted this on my way home from work in Uxbridge last night.
Only a few weeks after work started on the long awaited Hindhead tunnel, the ground clearing crew have had a serious accident.
The photograph shows a tractor unit used for moving the felled trees, and it is a hefty piece of machinery.
I can only presume that nothing will happen to the unit until the Health and Safety Executive have carried out a full investigation.
The unit is lying very close to the A3, I presume that the road will have to be closed when the recovery starts to take place - any volunteers?
Not a good start for contractors Balfor Beatty who have only been on site for a few weeks.
