  1. Hi Guys many thanks for your advice and info, upon re inspection cam shaft appeared not bent, followed tappet set up advice, rechecked reset. Engine 'seems' to be running well. One think that I did that I have not seen mentioned was that as I had not removed tha rad I make a protector out of 4mm ply to cover the rad while working. One again many thanks. BPG
  2. Many thanks for that, I have been offered a complete shaft with rockers etc, would you recomend fitting these as unit, or fitting my existing rocker etc on. On the other hand I found I can get a new shaft for £25,any thoughts. Once again thanks for your time. Imust take it less lituraly when told tp 'just' throw some bits on and away I go BPD
  3. Hi Guys thanks for advice so far, need a wee bit more help, having changed the cam belt etc I briefly stared engine, sounded ok. I decided to put replacement caps on the valve tops, it was then that I noticed that some of the new push rods were bent, I took the rocker shaft apart and on a straight edge it 'looked' ok I reassembled but when I looked closely I could see that the rockershaft clamps were not completely sitting on the cylinder head face, Does this mean the rocker shaft is bent, would this account for the bent pushrods, if it is that is shaft bent can I fit the existing rockers etc on a new shaft (Britcar UK do one for about £55). Also I think I made a massive school boy error when I first refitted the new push rods I stared the engine before I had reset the tappets!!! I know how many times can I kick my self any advice(apart from more kicking) greatly appriciated BPD
  4. I reaset the tappets and engine started!! thanks so much for your advice, one other thing, the timing belt kit I bought did not have an idler wheel, I took the old one off and check it and it appeared fine, is this a false ecconamy should I fit a new one. thanks again I am so pleased the engine is Ok
  5. Many thanks for info I will get onto it and let you know, I just hope I have not killed my disco
  6. Having failed to change my cam belt on my 200000mile disco 200Tdi it broke, followed advise on another titled snapped timing belt, 8 new push rods new belt, etc, apart from one bent push rod the only visable damage was to the 3rd from bulkhead tappet adjuster bent, replaced this with one from a 300 only difference it is slightly longer. When I stated engine very rough and popping noise, does this mean that I have bent the valve, any advice most welcome,
  7. Hi Disco tdi200 builds up oil pressure behind the rubber cup on the front wheel so much so that it blows the cap and wheel finish cap off! Took it LR specialist who stated they had fixed problem but they have not, It seems to happen more is I drive over rough ground. I have removed and cleaned the axle breather tube. Any ideas would would gratefully received.
