  1. I have A 1997 Defender V8 and suffer from heat problems at the drivers and passengers feet. It gets very hot at our feet as well as the gearbox cover. Is this a Defender problem as I have heard of more than one person complaining or can I fix it, or at least make it a bit better. The engine does not overheat nor the gearbox-xferbox. Can be very uncomfortable at times. Is it engine or gearbox heat.?
  2. I have a Defender 1997 110 with a 3.5 V8 block which has been modified to a 4.5l, twin SU's, electronic ignition. I have just totally redone the motor, gearbox and transfer box. Have set the carbs (using a uni-syn flow meter) set the timing to 6dec BTDC etc etc. The motor runs perfectly, has unreal power, does not smoke or use oil. The plugs burn perfectly, do not build up carbon. My consumption is between 5.6 and 5.9 is this correct or is it very heavy. If so has anyone any ideas to improve the petrol consumption, I do not want to get rid of the V8 motor. It is such a pleasure to drive. Have thought about the ignition system but it is expensive to modify. Can someone help.
