How problematic is to fit 2.5TDi engine (manual transfer box) from D1 to D2 (automatic box) instead of 3.9L petrol engine?
What parts (kits) will be needed?
Thanks for help
Need qualified advice for the following task.
I have D1 200Tdi with poor body and possibility to get for low money D2 3.9 auto transfer (2000 year).
The questions are:
-will 200tdi engine sit on D2 frame and fit with auto transfer box? This is one variant. And the other-
-will D2 front and rear axles fit to D1 frame ?
The idea is : D2 is in good condition but the consumption of 3.9 engine is unbearable for me at least.
Thanks for your help
Well, here in Ukraine we have very different situation with importing cars, buy/sell etc.
In one phrase - the value of the question can be several G s. I think it's worthy
a try. What one wouldn't do to reach a goal. I hope I'm not mistaken in my try to have
a D2 - 2004 produced.
And technical practical details in such conversion are very important.
Yes, but it's not very problematic to cut that piece and weld it to D1 frame.
What worries me is the mounting places on the D1 frame to match with D2 body. There
are two crossbars at the engine/gearbox of D2 frame. This is also doable to my mind.
Only good drawings or prints or AutoCad pictures with dimensions of D1 and D2 frames are needed.
That would answer all questions or somebody's experience in such conversion.

Has anybody placed Discovery 2 body on Discovery 1 frame? My Disco 1 has very rusted body and I'd like to place Disco 2 body on Disco 1 frame.
What could be the problems? I understand that some cutting and welding on the frame will be needed. Has anybody any experience in such conversion?
