  1. I have a P38 2001 4.6. I'm contemplating changing the headrests for ones with DVD players built in to keep the kids amused. An eBay example is this: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/HD702-2x7-Car-Headre...id=p3286.c0.m14 ...or a 9" screen version. Two questions: 1) will the electric headrest adjustments and memory settings still work with the new headrests? 2) is there somewhere under the seat that I can *easily* pick up +12V to power up the DVDs? Ideally an existing connector...Or would I have to run a cable from somewhere or cut into a loom (neither are good options for me...). Thanks Phil
  2. I'm in Baku, Azerbaijan with a 2001 P38. The satnav doesn't work here as there are no maps, so I'm looking at some options and issues around the centre console. 1) the analogue clock runs very slow. Is this just a case of replacing it or might there be something more sinister causing it? 2) Is it possible to connect an alternative video source to the satnav screen, such as a reversing camera? If yes...how? 3) if I were to strip out the satnav, is the hole it's in a standard size for fitting (say) a double height audio/video unit? Thanks Phil
  3. Now you will understand that I'm not mechanically minded... These are some sort of diagnostic devices? Are they generic or RR/P38 specific as to either hardware and/or software? That is, would I expect any reasonable workshop in Azerbaijan to have one and be able to do it? And when you say "Market Spec" it was supplied new in Germany, is there some sort of code for that? Is it embedded in the VIN somehow? Thanks Phil
  4. I've recently acquired a 2001 4.6l 160kw P38 in Baku, Azerbaijan (so am also new to this forum). Most of the RRs here are newer models, Sports superchargers etc. reflecting wealth from the oil industry, there are very few cars of the same vintage as mine. The car is LHD and originated from Germany, so the BeCM displays all its messages in German. Naturally I'd like to change that to English. Dealer support in Azerbaijan is a bit suspect: There is a Ford/Land Rover main dealer, but they don't seem to know very much about older cars. I visited but didn't feel that they had any special reason or knowledge why I should go there rather than to any other general mechanic/workshop There is a BMW main dealer who may have had some training and equipment for older cars post take-over in 2002, I haven't tried yet. So...any thoughts on how I might change the BeCM language (short of changing the BeCM itself for a UK one...). I'm not mechanically minded myself, I usually get others to do things for me! Thanks Phil
