  1. Where can I find out more about having lpg on a Defender ? Is it only a petrol option, or can Diesels have it too ? How does it work - do you still have petrol if required or if wherever you are has no gas filling point ? Where does the gas tank/bottle go - eg on a 90 - inside you would surely lose a lot of space. Underneath it would be prone to being bashed offroad ! How numerous/where do you get gas from ? Any advantages tax and insurance wise apart from the gas price ? Thanks Gerry
  2. Snorkels - How practical are they ? I read somewhere - maybe here - that they are usually for keeping the intake away from dust / dirty air. Are they not for providing a waterproofed air supply - or do only certain models do this ? There is a guide on here about fitting a snorkel, but it seems to rely on a little foam gasket for a seal - which seems to me like a very weak point if the snorkel is coming out of your wing and liable to catch / snag on things. If I were to get one when I find my 110/130 - what would I be looking for for a true robust and waterproof snorkel ? Thanks Gerry
  3. Something like this would suit my purpose . . .
  4. Looks interesting James ! Something like that would suit me - maybe with the rear body extending forward to occupy the space where the rear seats are. Will have to look up MoD ambulances and things like that. TGV looks like it will cost as much as I want to spend on the whole vehicle - but nice
  5. I thought that these were the newest engine ? If so then the vehicle they came in would be out of my price range I think. I'll only be looking for around £5 K max on the road price. Thanks Gerry
  6. Hi all - first post, After an absence from Land Rovers for 13 years or so - when I used to have a Diesel 90 CSW, I am thinking at the end of the year of getting a new (old) one. I need at least a 110 for the space- and maybe even a 130 - as they seem to come with an interesting selection of rear bodies from various utility companies which might suit me better, have seen a few online with Luton bodies - whichever I choose has to be securable. Not sure yet ! My last one had a 2.5 turbo diesel in which the turbo never worked ! it was sluggish and not much fun on motorways at all. I know nothing about any of the later engines so looking for some pointers as to which is the best Diesel variant to look for, 200 Tdi or 300 Tdi or ? dont think the funds will stretch to anything newer than these ! What are the good and bad points for both - mpg and stuff like that. Primarily for road use - but with my pyrotechnics lifestyle I sometimes have a lot of 'sensitive' kit to lug around off road (hence me wanting a secure load area)- grassed fields, farm tracks and suchlike, I also enjoyed Green Laning with my old one. Any hints and tips on the engine choice etc would be most appreciated. Gerry
