  1. Hi everyone,

my father bought a 2004 td4 freelander a year ago. as soon as i drove it, i noticed a whine (a bit like mud terrain tyres sound) this has bugged both of us, so changed all 4 tyres for new, noise still there.....so we removed the rear prop assembly, noise still there.....so we just left it off for this past month, now we have a heavy vibration through whole car, which comes and goes, it seems worse when acclerating, the gear lever shakes too. the original whine is still present. we also checked the wheel bearings, all good. could it be the IRD? or the actual gearbox? any thoughts gratefully received!

  2. Hey guys.

I have searched and searched again all over the web....can't find anyone who has actually done it. I have a 2003 petrol which we have had from new and has high sentimental value, but head gasket has failed again, so i bought a complete 1998 2.0 diesel L series, which shares the same gearbox etc. Everyone always says dont bother, but i have both vehicles here, so i will be doing it, if i can. Does anybody have any links, info or advice......just dont say its not worth it!!!!!!!!

  3. Hi guys, my 1984 90 2.5 n/a has developed a leak through the throtle spindle on the injection pump. I have taken it to bits and found a rubber o-ring but its not a regular o-ring it has kind of squared off edges. Does anybody know where to get a new one? I have searched this forum and googled it, it seems to be a common fault, but no info on repairing. Anybody been here?

  4. I've just bought a tilt for my 90, but don't have the sticks/frame etc, so my qusestions are as follows

1 What combination of parts from different land rovers, ie series 3, could be used?

2 Has anyone mounted the taigate with side hinges, as per the full size door?

    3 Photos would be good!!

4 Parts for sale would be even better!!!!!!!

    Thanks guys.......

  5. He has a green "90" on ebay now, although it's a 1980 W. Had one on recently with full cage, you can see it in his history, which was decidedly suspicious vehical. I asked him a few probing questions and he told me to get a life. Not a nice chap, and i'd say avoid him at all costs.

  6. There is a "90" on our favourite auction site listed as 230574727518 I'm not having a go, but this is clearly not a 90, and this landyman who's selling really should know better. It looks like a nice enough machine, I feel if he'd advertised it as a hybrid, it would be fine, but this is misleading, I would not like to see some poor newby buying a 1975 "90".

  7. Happy new year!!!

My 90 had been driving lovely and saved the day with the recent snow so, as mot is looming, i thought i'd treat it to some braided front brake hoses, did the passenger side no problems, but in the middle of the drivers side, i noticed a puddle of ep90 under the swivel, so i went to the swivel and found serious play at least 10mm up and down!! Can some kind soul talk me through whats wrong please?!

  8. I'Ve searched everywhere for the answer and am more confused than ever. I have a 1984 A 90 with rotten brackets on the rear axle, I also have a 1992 J discovery for its 200tdi. Thoight I'd save myself some welding by swapping the disco axle onto my 90, but when I jacked up the disco with 130 000 miles on it, the diff has 10mm of end float play up and down. Will my 90 diff fit into the disco axle? Please help!!!!
