  1. Thanks for the replies, both make sense.

These are the ones I was thinking of getting to replace the old spots/work lamps on the rear, that assist the reversing lights.

I also thought they might be better than the current ones on the light bar, which came already fitted, and are controlled by a separate switch to the main headlamps.

Yes, I agree they can be distracting when glaring off the bonnet, so repositioning would be a better option, but it was just a thought when I saw them online :-)

  2. Hey guys,

I was wondering what everyones' opinions are on the Cree light bars vs several smaller Cree lights?

I currently have a standard light bar, consisting of 4 normal hella-esque lights, sitting above the windscreen. As usual, they are starting to get old and need replacing.

I have seen a lot of people are fitting the LED light bars, primarily the long single units.

Would it be of any loss to just replace my current single lights for individual ones?

    Cheers

  4. Hey guys,

Just fitted some 265 75 16 MTs, on Boost Alloys to my Discovery.

I've adjusted the steering stop locks by 5mm, thinking this would give a decent enough clearance of the arms, but when I've test driven it the bolts are just too far forward now.

Can anyone tell me the best measurement for adjustment?

I measured them at 26mm before I fiddled with them and 30mm after.

Also, is there supposed to be a locking nut on them? Mine only has a washer and standard nut.

    Cheers in advance.

  5. Hi Matt,

Dave Mitchell's landcraft are running an adventure day plus, in bala, on 28th December.

However If you're running standard tyres you might find it too difficult.

Alternatively check out the low Rangers (ellabarto) on YouTube. They have covered some great stuff in Wales.

  6. This is so not good for my itchy feet....

Both of us are gagging to get away.

Over the past year there have been so many references to Norway. I think the Norse gods are calling.... haha!

As soon as the little one is born, I think we are planning a road trip!

  7. I noticed on my dad's TD5 that where the arms attach to the trailing arms, the bottom plastic has corroded and snapped on both sides.

Can you buy those arms separately or do you have to buy the complete sensor unit?

The arms are still attached, but only just and the sensors are still working.

    Cheers

  8. It depends what you're looking for buddy. My dad has a TD5 and I've got a 300.

I prefer the drive of the TD5 and, ironically, my dad prefers the drive of my 300, but the mpg is loads better on mine.

The TD5 is a lot more refined and has bags of torque. The downside is there's a lot more to go wrong.

I keep nagging my dad to get his chipped/remapped. Then it really will fly.

  9. Cheers buddy. when you mean in the footwell do you mean under the steering wheel and behind the glove box? I didn't open the bonnet when cleaning. I checked the fuses in there today. Everything looked fine.

I need to check the relays again.

  10. Morning guys.

Yesterday I gave the Discovery (300 tdi, 1997) a really good power wash. When I came to start the car I saw the dash lights weren't working. I then discovered the headlights aren't working either, except on full beam. There's a row of extra lights on my roof which are connected to the main beam and they are working.

The other thing that's seems strange is the glow plug light isn't coming on either, when cold. I'm sure this is all linked but I don't know how.

I figure it might be a relay but again I'm not fully sure, and I'm struggling to find the cause.

    Cheers

    Matt
