    i have a 300 tdi out of a disco in my 110 , whats the best way to make the temp gauge read correctly? the gauge works but doesnt read correct( hot). when i had my 90 with a 2.8 isuzu i used a gauge and universal sender from demon tweeks but cant seem to find them now. would a sender off a defender 300tdi work?

  2. i read somewhere that all wheels should have chains, if you put them on rear then steering affected , if you put them on front then rear can try to overtake you. makes sense i suppose. i would leave diff open unless trying to get up a steep track where i would normally use the diff lock without chains,

    hope that makes sense?

  3. well after lots of work i finally got it mot'd today, i had a 110 with a 3.3 nissan straght 6 with a nissan gearbox and a lr transfer box, the gearbox went pop so i picked up a disco for the 300tdi.............

    after lots of head scratching and being told i couldnt fiy the disco box into a 110 i gave it a go.

    the transfer box is in the original 110 position , all engine mounts were cut off and the engine ,gearbox and t box lifted in ,once the t box was in place i welded on new engine mounts. the engine is more forward than standard but this meant oil cooler pipes, intercooler pipes etc off disco were used.

    i used the disco steering box so all the pipes connected up.

    i did away with the middle seat and altered the transmission tunnel for the sticks to fit,the sticks are fine to use and in a natural position.

    pics are not the best but they give an idea....

    so .... it can be done :)

    thanks for replying

    on the old engine there was one thick one thin wire, sorted the thick one but when i connect the thin one to the original wire i get a whistling sound ( high pitched)but the charge light does go out. my brother who wired it all for me said i need a diode?? on the diagram there an alternator then wire then a diode then more wire?? i thought it would be part of the alternator but he seems to think it could be seperate??

    im no electrickery expert as you can prob tell....

  5. whats the best way to join the hard plastic diesel pipes? im fitting a 300 into a 110, i have tried some rubber hose over the plastic with jubilee clips but they not perfect.... gonna get some better jubilee clips not these cheap rubbish ones, is there a better way? the original platic pipe is just pushed onto the unions? how is this done?
