You do not say what size alloys you want to fit, but I believe that there should be no problem. I have fitted 15" Freelander alloys to my 2005 TD4 (which was originally fitted with 17" alloys). I believe the problem lies with some of the 16" alloys. Those that allow for the bigger brake discs are indicated by small round indentations, clearly visible on the rims. As far as I know the upgraded brakes were only fitted after 2001.
