  1. Hey all Anyone out there got any idea what hose goes from fire trap on my V8 rocker cover and (I presume) goes to inlet manifold? its quite a big diameter reduction and needs a TEE piece (I think), where can I get one from, I tried ebay with no joy marko
  2. Hi all, I have just rebuilt top end of my V8 after head skim and good clean up. I did not touch carb settings but strangely the engine kind of over run's after a blipping the throttle, i.e. does'nt settle immediatley to idle. Anyone have any ideas, some one suggested maybe an inlet manifold air leak? kinda makes sense I suppose if engine is running lean. Anyway all comments welcome

  4. Well chuft with your advice so far thanks a lot, I am getting the idea. Just one thing can you clarify, I understand using the welding rod technique under the push rod stuff, but when you say 'then meausure' what exactly am I measuring, I presume a gap somewhere, but can you tell me exactly where, cheers mate you've been a great help to me.
  5. Cheers mate this does confirm what I thought, dont think I dumb but how do I check the clearance now and then how do II work out what shims to put under the rocker, RPI talk about rocker ratios and stuff, any advice?
  6. Having had my heads skimmed on my V8, can anybody tell me whether I need to adjust the push rod pre load, or do the hydraulic followers adjust automatically?
  7. I have had my heads skimmed and got new gaskets all ready for my second attempt rebuild (first time failed due to water seeping from block/head?? I have read a lot of stuuf where people talk of using silicon sealant and RTV sealants on inlet manifold etc etc, and much talk of where to put this sealant. I really dont want to rebuild the 3rd time, can anyone advise on a proper method for guaranteed sealing? also I hear conflicting reports on which way up the composite head gasket goes? any advice?
  8. Hi all, I am a new member as of today and am on the verge of desperation! I have been working on converting my LR90 to V8 which has been stressfull to say the least. I have had so much duff advice and have had to spend more than planned to get to the stage which I am now at. I have had it running and up the road a mile or so and so far I am well chuffed, I just had a few finishing touches when the freeze came, yes you guessed it, on anti freeze! Gutted!! R.P.I. reckon it knackered and just renewing core plugs wont work as there is every chance that there will be leagage within! I am heartbrocken after all the hard slog I was getting really up for some serious 4x4ing. question, has anybody out there had experience of a V8 blowing core plugs and surviving???? any tips on what to look for? to be honest I found R.P.I's attitude on the phone really annoying they just wanted to flog me a new short block, yeah right, with my diminshed budget?!!! Please help, its well cold out here.
