  1. Thanks for your reply Door Seals - hmmm thought of this but the edges of the lower panel edges are parrallel and slightly spaced with little depth or width to grip the inner faces of the seals plus the spacing of the panels probably means they move when gripped - guess it's the black stuff!!! Door locks - You're right I shouldn't be dealing with this, trouble is that once you start with a dealer you need for them to complete the work before another dealer will get involved with the same warrantee issue. (Guess it's about getting paid by landrover) Worse the next dealers mechanics may go through the same leaning curve unless they have dealt with the issue before. I'm not at this stage inclined to take door cards off as they have been damaged by the current dealer and are due to be replaced by them (fixing studs ripped out of backing) so I'm at a loss as to why the mechanism does not work. I'd like to get some insight before taking back for third try at fixing. I'm trouble that if you can get a Discovery door mechanism to work, a Range Rover door mechanism to work what so difficult about a Defender.
  2. Hi, I have recently purchased from new (59 plate) a 110 County XS with a utility pack. I am experiencing problems with: 1. The rear door seals - they simply fall off as you get in and out of the rear passenger area. Not a major issue but should one be expected to stick the seals on with some sort of "black stuff" on a new vehicle. 2. The rear door locks are not working correctly - the plunger mechanism does not seem to eiher rise or fall correctly when central locking opertated, hence doors either can not be opened or do not lock. (it's not a cold problem as I've had the defender in the garage overnight and on the driver, no difference. (apart from locks frozen) Ok!! so it's a new vehicle and covered by warrantee etc but as it has been back to garage twice and the mechanics have failed to sort the problem on both occassions it would appear that there is a design fault on both the lock mechanism and on fitting of door seals. Landrover customer services although very polite are of little help. Landrover don't or won't let you talk to a product specialist and I fear the mechanics at the dealership are so used to dealing with items that don't works that they adopt "It's a Landrover". Sorry but that's just not good enough. If anyone out there has had a similar problem I would be grateful for any advice on how the problem was solved. Just for the record this is my 3rd Landrover so I'm not knocking the product. I'd love to hear from a member of the Landrover design team.
