  1. Hi all, I’m struggling to get the inlet manifold off my series 2a petrol engine. I need to take it off to drill and tap the blanked off brake vacuum as I’m nearly finished with my front disc brake conversion. I’ve removed the 2 nuts at the top, the 2 bolts underneath that go through the inlet manifold and the 2 bolts that have the wedge things on to hold the inlet and exhaust manifold on. I’ve also undone the 4 nuts on the studs that go through to the exhaust manifold (below where the carb sits). Is that all of the bolts as the inlet manifold will not move? I do not want to go near the exhaust manifold nuts / bolts as I know they will shear off………

    Cheers

The inlet and exhaust manifolds on a series are usually a very tight fit together. If you can't get it off by itself, you may have to take the exhaust manifold off with it.

  2. can anyone tell me what the Door Top Aluminium Glazing Kit (LR34A) from Paddocks is, the guy at paddocks said it just went on top of the door tops?? and pictures of them in situ would be appreciated

    thanks

My guess would be the pieces that hold the window glass in, they are made of aluminum.

  3. It stopped for a week and now it is doing it again. The cluch can be in or out but only happens when moving or coming to a stop. I think it is the clutch springs rattling but can't be sure. I feel it isn't something coming apart, I hope, as no bearing has that many parts. Everything else is quiet and smooth.

  4. Have you ever heard what sounds like a handful of gravel being thrown up under the truck while driving ? It happens at no particular time, clutch in or out. I supect the clutch but am not sure. I drive a 1991 110 with a 200 tdi and an lt77.Everthing runs smooth and quiet otherwise.

    Thanks

  5. Vehicles have to be 25 years old to enter the U.S legally. There are a lot of really old Defenders around though, some would be as old as a Series,if you get my drift. All newer vehicles must meet current standards.Apparantly there is some loophole with the 1993 110 though I'm not sure what it is.Here in Canada the rule is 15 years old and I just brought in a 1991 110.

  6. Hey All,

Just found the NA forum, I'm in the UAE and have a 85 110 V8 Dbl Cab and am planning to ship it back to BC next year. I've been doing some research through customs, my question is, do any of you have any wisdom regarding importation, I'd like to fill the conatainer with spares, any idea what customs' take on this would be?

    Cheers,

    Tracy

It shouldn't be any problem.I just imported a 110 into Canada by Ro/Ro and had the underseat storage and battery compartment stuffed with parts.Absolutely no problem with customs.

  7. I was tired of dealing with rust so someone told me to try Por-15.I followed the instructions to a tee on new and old rusty metal. It peeled off the new metal and rust came through on the old metal.I could have saved myslf a bunch of money and used Tremclad.

    I wouldn't recommend Por-15 to anyone.
