  1. same on mine (thread below) to see what ive changed. made no odds though. going to do idle control valve next for no other reason than a hunch and running out of ideas. let you know if it makes a difference.

  2. now changed plugs, leads ,coils air filter and crank sensor all seem to make a difference for a while engine light now off but flashes when stuck in traffic and goes out again when you get moving.any other ideas?

  3. hi all still having a misfire. changed plugs coils and air filter. plugged into a fault reader came up with po302 cyl 2 misfire, po313misfire empty tank think this means no fuel in cylinder. told probably the injector or crankshaft sensor. anyone know which is more likely to fail? or any other ideas appreciated.

  4. horn beeping usually meens the car thinks a window is open/ door not shut properly. the freelander alarm system is the same as the rover 200/400 which is rubbish and will probably sort itself out to the point where it wont go off if you pushed it off a cliff.

  5. hi all. went to open boot today, window dropped but not enough to unlock boot. can push window down enough to open, and when you shut it window works as it should. with boot open, can push window down about an inch. any help appreciated.

  6. this could only be done if land rover ever made a freelander with manual windows which im not sure they did. if they did, all the securing holes for the ratchet would have been pressed into the door inner panel so would be easy. if they never made a manual one you would somehow have to butcher the motor. have never looked at mine but repaired my saab electric window, and when assembled is very hard to turn.

  7. hello all. cant get my head round this one! took kids away for the weekend to coast. car travelled there and back approx 250 miles then round town all week approx 100 miles no coolant loss. went out for the day yesterday, one journey of 90 miles coolant dropped from full to empty. cant understand erratic loss. any ideas?

  8. hi I have a freelander 4td and it has started makiing a very loud hissing noise from the engine unable to determine where it is coming from but seems to be drivers side rear area, checked hoses connections with no joy any help would be greatly appreciated

    cheers

hello not sure what you mean by loud but i heard a hissing noise when sitting in traffic turned out to be heater fan

  9. new pump fitted god they are expensive! problem solved waiting for the next one. not had a car this bad since a 10 year old marina in the eighties!cheers for the replies though. sure i will be asking something else soon!

  10. have had bit more of a look seems to be 2 lives into relay but only one to fuel pump have swapped relays round so know thats ok also with ignition switch on 2 the air idle sensor is making a high pitch whine and the map sensor is clicking you can feel something going on! these stop as you disconnect them are these normal?

  11. driving to work the other day changed down gear at roundabout went to accelarate off and no power then stopped and wont start have read this could be fuel pump and also read very expensive! any ideas on checking to make sure pump is problem or could it be anything else (sensors etc) i did disconect the fuel pipe from fuel rail turned over and no fuel came out

  12. hello i had similar coolant loss had inlet gasket replaced but made no odds also had cracks on expansion tank it seemed to be hissing so replaced which was about £40 from lr dealer also required new cap as tank was redesigned with a ratchet cap no water loss since so might be worth a try

  13. hello done a search and also checked other forums and decided to remove the lot for now. this turned out to be quite easy which supprised me! what i would like to know is now off the bit thats broke is the damper which are pretty cheap to get hold of so is it worth replacing or has this broke due to vcu being broke?

  14. just had a loud banging from under car. discovered casing has come off and spining on rear prop shaft. does that make it knackered? or can you still drive (i pushed it back on) if its gone how much are they and is it easy to replace?

  15. seem to go for good money on ebay but i remember when all my money used to go on insurance and loud stereos car audio dealers used to make reinforced parcel shelves from mdf and cover them to match the car. may see if they still do and if they can do one for a freelander and what cost (not for big speakers just to stop some little git helping themselves to the contents of my boot which is currently a 2 litre bottle of water just in case!)
