  3. Hi all, received new head and rockershaft but as usual Paddock cocks up the order and sends valve cups instead of caps. Unbelievably annoying considering I specifically rang them and described the part as I couldnt find it on their site. Can I run the motor until I receive them? I have 5 of the originals, rest no doubt will turn up on the floor as soon as new lot arrive.
  4. Thanks to everybody for the advice, much appreciated. Ive ordered a new head as I exhausted all possibilities of an airblock-tried several variations on bleeding/refilling the system and still found the system under pressure and boiling the coolant. At 200,000 miles I wont begrudge the car a new head and rad!
  5. Maverick, just a visual and running of a straight edge over the face. Seemed ok but obviously wasnt.
  6. Hi all, My defender was prone to overheating and pressurising the cooling system so after following a few threads on the forum I bled and refilled the system, to no avail. I then changed the head gasket, correct holes etc, and now the system is even more pressurised, and the coolant boiling only minutes after ignition. The engine heats up very quickly and Im wondering if theres a crack somwhere in the head, even though it looked perfect out of the car, and was checked carefully for any warping. Any advice appreciated.

Hi-I've encountered the dreaded spider problem, and followed instructions as per http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?showtopic=86 Originally starter wouldn't turn over but since a mate did the bypass, I now have the starter turning but no voltage to the fuel solenoid. What have we done wrong?I've gone back and resoldered the relays etc but still nothing. Fuses all checked etc, no joy. What am I missing. I've rigged a direct voltage from the ignition to the solenoid now, from the spare tab, but this is giving constant 12 volt feed, so vehicle can't be switched off from the ignition. Help!
