  1. Why not take a picture of yours so we can actually see

as I tried to say, the image was just to give an idea, as I couldnt find the original site or add I bought it from,

I also dont own any form of digital camera, as I still go by good old 35mm...I also dont own a mobile phone believe it or not, as in an old life I used to sell them and got fed up with it all....

Think this is the bar negativepitch is talking about

cheers matey..that looks like the bugger :)

Perhaps it's me, but why post a photo

I joined in the hope of getting some help with a vehicle I know nothing about, as I am noramly into the aircooled VW scene, not to get criticised in an open forum about the post,

if you cant help with the problem why take the time to reply ?,

Especially to a newB to the scene.

  2. as I said, this image is of a freelander two just to give a rough idea.

mine goes much higher up, so sits right infront and up against the sensors,

I had already planned to extend the wiring to do it,

and the bar on mine is polished stainless not chromed :)

  3. sorry...its a td4

I opened the bonnet and then closed it again as I might as well be looking at a blank page..cause thats all it means to me

I know that doesnt help much,

think I will let it cool down, the re-try just to start it tomorow, if it starts then Ill switch it off till monday and see if I can get it into my local landrover ???

    edit to this...

the light is the engine malfunction light the one with the ! inside it...not just a ! symbol...which would be the handbrake...even I know that much :D

  4. my wife has just come back from shopping,

the engine warning light, the one with the ! in it,

my wife said it also lost power when she changed to third, and now it wont start, its trying to turn over.

I know its a stab in the dark...any ideas ?

I just forked out for a new clutch, and fly wheel, then had an oil leak on one of the boots...now this...all in a matter of three weeks.

I can see this going early at this rate.....

its had a full health check from landrover when I had the clutch done.

also, this only started just after my wife had filled the tank...yes it was diesel she put in.

  5. I have put on a rear bumper protection bar on my 3 door 06 sport,

the only problem is, it blocks the two middle reversing censors,

I realy like the look of it on the car,

I have a friend next door that works for the RAF, and could could get the bar drilled,

so that I could re-mount the two middle censors into the bar,

would this work ? and how easy it to remove the two middle censors from the car in the first place,

    cheers for any advice,

the bar looks like the one in the pic (freelander 2)but it sits up higher covering the middle censors.

  6. many thanks for the advice,

somthing for me to go off,

    cheers.

Most tail pipe finishers are designed for a car and therefore the tail pipe will be a smaller diameter to your freelander exhaust pipe. After ensuring that you have a tail pipe which is of a larger diameter to your exhaust pipe, you would be best to cut the curve of the exhaust pipe so that the tail pipe finsher sits straight and doesnt point down. Take your time in doing this and dont cut the exhaust too far back as then the fumes may find the way into the cabin. Finally you will need to drill a hole in the exhaust in order to secure the tail pipe via the nut and bult supplied with the tail pipe finisher.

  7. twas the clutch burning out...which also took the flywheel with it...OH THE JOY !!

If it only happens after hard braking then it's just the brakes getting hot, they do that (I've cooked mine quite a few times). If it's all the time, or one side is much hotter than the other, then they're binding.

  8. hello chaps,

I would like to stick a stainless steel exhaust tip on my TD4 facelift 06 sport,

not having a clue what to look for, has anyone got any links etc to some, as I would just like to tidy up the back end a bit...well in my eyes anyways :D

    cheers for any help

    steve.

  9. Isn't that where the webasto heater is fitted to diesel freelanders, behind the bumper? If so the exhaust may have come adrift.

ok...this is an even more stupid question...remebering what I said about not knowing anything...

when you first start the engine, is the cooling fan behind the radiator supposed to start straight off, or does it come on when its hot etc...as the fan isnt going when I start the car,

    cheers again

  10. I know this is a complete stab in the dark,

I can smell since this morning, a very acrid burning type of smell around the frot grill area on my 06 3 door freelander TD4,

but can see anyhting...to be honest Im not up on any mechanics on cars,

does anyone have any guesses on what it might be. it smells a bit like rubber or plastic burning, it doesnt seem to be coming from the main engine but around the front of the grill,

    cheers for any feedback,

    steve.

  11. I read that the paint code for my 06 freelander in on a sticker on the slam panel under the bonnet, but I can see it,

its an 06 freelander sport the same colour as in the pic, a sliver/grey

    417_1006.jpg

does anyone have any ideas ?

  12. If its a manual the clutch should be light & smooth in operation.

If looked after it will have plenty of life.

    Mark.

cheers lads for all the advice,

the seller has just had full service including the breather without me even mentioning it to him,

    so all sounds good.

    cheers once again,

    steve

  13. My insurance company specifically asked if bullbars and sliders were fitted to my 2000 Freelander, they are as it happens but all the bullbars do is carry two spots and make reaching into the engine compartment a little bit more of a stretch and looking at the fixings they really are only cosmetic

    cheers lads for the info,

think I will give it a miss then, dont really feel lik getting pulled in,

only got pulled i once with this...

    http://www.81x.com/doogydawg/haveblue/

and that was only because one of the coppers wanted a better look as hes a fan :D

not sure what the landy nudge bar in the ebay link, looks like on the car,

    cheers

    steve
