  1. After 8 weeks I finally got my car back from garage. 3 new (salavage hubs) and rear diff mount and the horrible noises have for the most part gone. The three amigos have gone after replacing 2 x abs sensors too !!! However : 1 - When I first drove it i got a horrible burning smell - when I got home I checked and it looked like the passenger side pad had been rubbing / locked on as that wheel was alot hotter than the others - have driven it twice since and have not had the issue again - shoudl I be worried about this ? 2 - In 4th gear i sometiems get a grinding noise, like its trying to jump out of gear - havent noticed it in anoy other gear 3 - I seem to have to get teh car to 3500 revs before a gear change 55mph + to get it into 5th, so seem to be driving in 4th alot more than I normally would - is this normall - is it just that I am not used to this kind of car (i've not had a 4wd before) 4 - The main issue !!!! I have a ticking noise, constanlty when I drive, seems to be front drivers hub - sounds like a plastic spoke thing you used to get on your bike. The ticking speeds up and slows down with the car - however - disappears when I am turning - it only seems to happen when driving in a straight line - any ideas what this may be ??? thanks Ian
  2. this sounds like a great compromise - loose vc - extended life of ird and still 4wd mines been in garage for 8 weeks having work done, one more hub to replace, but alot of the noises that we thought we ird / vc related have gone was going to knock it to 2wd to save the ird / rear diff from future wear, but if i can have it 4wd still and with less stress I may well spend the extra 2/300 !
