  1. Just picked up a 92 RRC MOT failure and i am going to use the engine and box (3.9 auto) including the EFI for my 90.

Question is what is the best or quickest way to remove them?

Would they come out as a whole unit or do i have to split them?

It also has LPG. Would i be wise and junk this or try and reuse it. The reason i ask is because i was told it is not very wise to move second hand LPG setups.

  2. so chopping a landy roof and doing all the relevant fab' work is fine but a bit of DIY is a no no :P

Or you do what I do and just drive in to the garage and let the car "shape" the up and over door to a nice curved profile!

I like the sound of that . a bit of destruction. :P

But i think the missus would have something to say about that.

    I just hate doing DIY.

  3. I want to lower the roof line on my 90 by removing the section that holds the air vents on the bulkhead. This is approximatly 3".

It has series doors fitted with the tops removed so thats one less problem to overcome.

At the moment it has a truck cab fitted, but i want to scource a van back and trim that down and sell the cab.

My question is has anybody done this before, and are there any pictures or information to be found.

I have trawled the internet and found nothing.

Any help would be greatly apppreciated.

  4. Do you have all the bits you need from the auto RR? Like propshafts, oil cooler and pipes, start inhibit loom etc?

If so it should be relatively straight forward. You might want to take a close look at the transmisison tunnel though - I don't know if they are different between the manual and auto.

The gearbox mounts on the offside are different as well i think.

  5. I would like to have another setup of you but this time it will have to be the MS setup.

I would like to say to you all that Rangy Rover fitted a MJ kit to my 3M Challenger and it did make a big differance to the way it started and ran even through water. I even jetwashed the engine when i got home from a days offroading and it still ran fine.

So don't knock it till you try it.

  6. I have just bought an old 90 on a Q plate and it has a rather large smelly perkins engine fitted.

I have a 3.9 rangerover that i am going to break for bits.

Will i have any problem fitting the V8 and auto box from the rangie into the 90?

What bits will fit and what would i need to source from other vehicles?

Does anybody now if i send the logbook in with the new engine to the dvla would i have any problems ?

Like will it have to be SVA'ed?

A ny help on this matter would be of great help.:i-m_so_happy:

  7. Tryed shorting the connector and still did not start, so i removed the fuse to the fuel pump relay to starve it of the excess fuel and it tried to fire after a couple of turns of the ignition. Fitted the fuse back in and with a few coughs and splutters it ran.

Still unsure what the problem was or is but it is running fine now.

Thanks FridgeFreezer for the help.

  8. Hi hope one of you guys can help on this one.

Went to start the Disco this morning to go to the donnington 4x4 show and it started and stalled after about 10 or 15 seconds. It seemed to be running rich as it started puffing black smoke out of the exhaust. There is a spark at all the plugs but they seemed very wet. It has not started since. I have cleaned all the plugs, checked the dizzycap and sprayed WD40 on eveyting. I am not that good with eletrics But i have tried to understand the EFI diagnosis in the tech archive but to no avail. It still wont start and now the battery is flat . Any help or suggestions please.

Am not happy because i had to go to the show in my wifes citroen c1.

    Many thanks GARY.
