just to keep you up to date, got the steering box off. came off quite easy just one little niggle with the one hydrolic pipe ont willing to move at first but persuaded it to do other wise. in the end i an going down the second hand box route, a good honest breaker i;ve got to know is sending a good tested unit to me. tried craddocks wo is local to me but no joy with a recon unit, they say they only get a few as and when and could't tell me when the next batch were due. i was only joking yesterday that i've owned the disco 2 weeks and not ever drove it yet..... my brother cheacked it all and took for a good test drive to make sure everything else was as it should be. just silly bits to do so far once steering sorted. does any one know how much power steering fluid is in the system from empty????? as i need to get some but unsure of how much i need, so any help would be good thanks

thanks for your opinions, i didn't think they changer the back doors. but as i said yesterday i was looking for a few bits and bobs and the one breakers yard, came out with this the doors were diferent if any one else has any comments or if any one has changed a door even better.... as my brither and i were under the impereion they were the same. it doesnt help when we both have L ref disco 300tdi's thanks for you comments and please keep them coming

just a silly question about the rear door/tail gate for a discovery 1 i'm looking to replace my rear door/tail gate, i was told yeasterday there are 2 types...?????? can any one shed any lite on this?? i have a l reg 300tdi been told this was the swop over year. are there any diferences in the 200 tdi & 300 tdi rear doors/tail gates. if so what they are?

hi all, i've recently purchased a discover 300tdi, the steering box is leaking really bad the power steering is now non existant. i need to remove the old steering box, does any one have any tips on the best way to remove this. i have also been told there are a number of differen steering boxes??? is this true?? when i've phones around for steering box, i,ve been advised to go for a good second hand or a recon depending on how much the recon cost. was told not to even attempt to replace with service kit as 99% dont work. I would be greatfull of any and all comments and advice to resolving theis problem thanks cz
