  1. Wonderful job thanks for your help! Just out of curiosity what defender manual are those attached pictures from? i've been searching through the manuals i have and have found nothing similar.
  2. Thanks for the reply! I changed the timing belt last year at about this time hence why i don't really want to take everything apart again if i don't have to. I'm guessing that timing kit simply has a few bolts that screw into the pulley and hold it within the inspection hole so it doesn't fall down in to the timing case? ... if it's as simple as that i could easily manufacture something myself of the same function, or am i missing something?
  3. Hi all, I'm removing the injection pump off of my Defender 200tdi tomorrow and i've never done it before. So to save a lot of work i was wondering, can i remove the pump by only taking off the small inspection plate on the timing cover? Or do i have to do it the long way around by removing the whole timing cover and everything else that goes along with it?
  4. Ok cool, cheers buddy I'll now add it onto the list of things to do!
  5. Thanks for the reply! Has it made it any noisier at all inside the landy? Thats my main worry as thats what happened to the extreme when i fitted that other little silencer. As for the centre pipe i'd like to leave that alone completely and just modify the tailpipe to fit so i can, if i ever want to, fit my straight through tailpipe back onto the system with it clear in my mind that it will be a simple and straight swap. I assume the hanging bracket is in the right place too?
  6. Hi all, So far i have only used this forum for general research and have always managed to find an answer but this time i can't. I have a complete straight through exhaust system on my 200tdi at the moment (i fabricated the tailpipe myself) but i've found at high revs flat out it is just a little too loud and harsh. Being obsessed with the sound of a Td5 i have listened to one that is completely straight through from the turbo and one that is straight through up until the standard back box. The one with the back box still in place was a little quieter on light revs but sounded a lot more gruntier and a lot less raspy and harsh but still maintained the 'straight through sound' when put under load. i.e. it just sounded a lot better! So my question is has anyone had any experience in making a Defender Td5 back box fit a 200Tdi Defender and/or how it sounded afterwards? In the past i did fabricate a tailpipe using the little silencer found in the standard 200tdi centre pipe but it didn't end up well ... it was horrible to drive as it created a dreadful droning sound and i soon swapped my straight pipe back after only one test drive. Thanks for your help in advance Oh and just realised its my first post, I'm Cameron by the way
