  1. Hi Guys!

About to get back in to Land Rover ownership.

Won an eBay auction for a Discovery 2 ES V8 1998, automatic.

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Land-Rover-Discovery-ES-V8i-Top-of-the-Range-Long-MOT-Seven-leather-seats-/261819232255?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2047675.l2557&nma=true&si=JQmuRq4VTU4jNcwNI21Y0T4%252BbUc%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc

It has the automatic stick and says automatic in the listing, however the HPI check and insurance it comes up as a manual?!

Any ideas? Can you even get a Disco 2 V8 in manual?

Just trying to understand whats going on and if its a potential DVLA **** up when it was first registered?

    Thanks,

    Chris

  2. Did it at Mud Monsters! It was a Defender replica with a 200tdi.

I had done a power steering conversion, the chassis split where the original cross member was (where the steering relay sits). Obviously I had to move it forward so the power steering box could sit where it was.

I did it where I was in the pic, but was traveling at speed :(

  3. Yeh, just rang up my local parts place and they said the spring bit should be at the bottom (inside the engine bit). Was wondering where your temp needle sits? As mineis now sitting in the higher end of the white bit before the rad gets hot.

It is a disco 200tdi so maybe it has the disco temp sender in? Opinions?

  4. Hiya Guys,

Currently have a tow bar fixed to my cross member which is good for offroading uses. (putting rope round e.t.c.)

It is obviously far to high, plus the fact it has a 3" lift, to use for towing.

I have just bought a boat, whilst my daily driver has a tow bar it will get stuck on the beach hence me needing to sort one out for the 90.

Rather than having the plate which bolts to the cross member then the tow bar lower, is there anything I can buy off the shelf with removable pins or something that could be removed in a matter of mins rather than having to unbolt and rebolt everytime.

The 90 is used for off roading, hence not wanting anything permanent as it will bottom out/cause me hassle off road.

    Thanks in advance!

  5. Not sure if this will help?...

I had 265/75/16 on my old Series. It had para's and extended shackles. Arch clearance was ok, but had issues with the inner wing rubbing on full lock when off roading. Was fine on the road however. I did have Defender wings though, which may come into play. Think series wings have a bigger section on the inner wing?

    Although 285's are obviously bigger!

  6. Do you have to be moving when selectiong Diff lock - high and low and normal - high and low?

When off roading, I select diff lock stationary, and slowly lift the clutch up so it selects. Same when going back into the standard mode.

Sometimes get a fairly loud knock but just think its the mechanical works sorting themselves out and all seems ok.

Mate does the same as me with the same knocks and all seems ok aswel.

  7. Have had the rocker cover off, all is tight. Did however find two bits of swarf around the diamater threads were the bolts go that secure the rocker cover, not sure were there from, but cant find anymore.

Started it up without the rocker cover and I do seem to have oil reaching the top. Fine oil dots on top of the bonnet. Not sure what ammount I should be getting up there?

Really dont have a clue whats causing the noise/knocking? :(
