  1. My 2001 freelander has a very low bite point and when it gets hotter (in traffic) is gets worse and starts to creep. I've read about pre 2000 ones needing a clutch master or slave? and bracket but is this the same on my 2001 plate one? If so where is best place to purchase correct bits to replace it? Cheers Martyn
  2. I was reading up and thought that was a sign of VSC on its way out. (new to this 4x4 stuff). Whats the Tippex test or are you setting me up for a ribbing??
  3. I'm gonna do prop bearings and VSC as it has a bit of a whine and drag when parking. If that doesn't work I thought diff would need bearings done next.
  4. What manufacturer do you recommend for prop bearings. I read lots of post saying not to buy Britparts. Should I use genuine parts? what sort of cost are they? Is it worth re-bearing my diff and is it a job I can do myself, again what manufacturer bearings do you suggest? Cheers Martyn
  5. With no MOT and engine fault its probably worth more as parts. I saw an MOT'd running example locally last night for £750 although not with leather. I'm also picking up a standard car with duff engine hopefully this week for scrap money (£80 or so). It has been lying a while and seats are a bit mouldy but it should supply some donor back up bits. cheers Martyn
  6. Thanks guys, what would be the main symptoms of a VSU getting ready to go? I kinda want to keep the 4x4 as our street is a private one and when it snows it snows really bad and all our cars get stuck very quick. Think the spare car for parts may be a good option Regards Martyn
  7. Hi Guys, I'm Martyn and here is my new toy and first 4x4 landy Car is a 2001 1.8ES with all the toys - Leather, electric everything including folding mirrors. I know K is for Kettle but hopefully that is way down the road if at all. There seems a lot of haters of freelander about even on Landrover forums but so far i really enjoy it. Car has a few wee niggles but hopefully sort them out in near future. These are 1. low biting point clutch 2. bit of a cluck when going over small bumps (might be track rod end or prop bearing). 3. sunroof is knacked (can live without as have read up). Hopefully getting another one this week for spares. Been offered one with dead engine so will take stuff off like diff, transfer box, etc. What other bits are worth taking if I have the chance? Cheers
