  1. Ok, I'm an idiot. Having taken a better look its now blatantly obvious where the vacuum banjo connection is. Unfortunately after hooking the vacuum pipe up to it nothing is happening still. So now I need to try to figure out why the switch itself isn't working. Thanks for everyone's responses. Cheers
  2. Thanks for the pointer James - I may well do that since I now have no idea why its not working.
  3. Thanks everyone. I'll report back what I find this weekend.
  4. Thanks Western, I'm wondering if item 13 has actually been removed on my vehicle and that's why I can't see it and I can't tell which of the remaining bolts in the manifold it should have actually been under. The exploded diagram doesn't really show where on the manifold (item 1) it was actually meant to fit into - any ideas? Cheers
  5. Hopefully you wont mind if I post this request to the Rangie forum as well as the Defender forum as I suspect there's more LT95 users in this section. I recently acquired a 1985 110 Station Wagon with V8 and LT95 4-speed. Previous owner had removed the old air-cleaner and replaced it all with K&N cone filters directly on the carburetors. In doing so I think he also disconnected the vacuum hose for the center diff lock. For the life of me I can't see where to reconnect the vacuum hose on the engine end. Everything I read points to "back of the intake manifold". But I can't see anything resembling a connector for a vacuum hose back there. Can anyone please send me a photo or diagram of what/where the hose connects to? Cheers Ian

  7. Thanks everyone. I'll give the wiring a check and clean this weekend and may see if I can take the alternator off for testing. Cheers
  8. I recently acquired a 1985 110 Station Wagon with V8 and LT95 4-speed. Recently started having a problem with keeping a charge on the battery (which looks new). When driving during the day (i.e. lights off) the voltmeter on the dashboard pretty much consistently shows the needle in the middle, which I assume means it's charging at 12 - 13V. But then daylight savings rolled around again and I had to drive at night. As soon as I turn the head-lights on the voltmeter needle drops down into the red. Speeding up to 60mph brings the needle up slightly above the red, but as soon as I slow down it drops back into the red. And then the last time I went to start it up the battery was pretty much dead. Jump started it and ran for a while (with lights off) and it seems fine again. But obviously I'm not keen on driving at night. Alternator drive belt is new and looks tight. What would cause the drop in voltage when I turn on the headlamps? Do I have a short somewhere? Or is the alternator simply not strong enough to keep up with the demands of the lights? Any other ideas? Help much appreciated! Cheers Ian
