  1. Got a d2 td5 started mods about 12 months since notised stuff is more expensive than for a d1

Got a gardin none winch bumper

    Steering gaurd

    Front qt diff gaurd

    Roof spots

    Td5 alive chipped

    Egr removed

    Centre silencer removed

    Side exit exaust

    Lifted 3 inch

    Bigger tyres

    Uprated disks

Face lift lights front and rear

    Removed ace

That's about it but it's a on goin project

  2. I did that to my disco sounded beautiful but it were too noisey I had de cat. centre silencer Removal pipe n side exit pipe just a stright pipe

What I did were cut the rear silencer out of the old pipe and the cut a secton out of the centre silencer removal pipe big enough for the silencer and weld it in and then refit the pipe

Now it's took the like noise out at tickover and crusing but if I boot it it sounds well

  3. I've towed quite a few different trailers all towed well

Ifor box trailer twin axel always tows well as long at it were level even up to silly weights and feels that safe you feel like you could do the ton

Caravan same size as ifor box but single axle but 30 year old worn hitch and nothing in it all over the place anything over 45 felt dangerous

Ifor flat bed tri axle depends on loading but can be as good as box trailer or as bad as 30 year old caravan

New caravan Twin axle 7.1meter big thing with silly alko squeaky hitch stabiliser thing absult rubbish tows carp all over the place tryed everything loading it nose heavy nose light with it set level with the nose down

What I think the problem is caravans are built to be a house on wheels so more money is spent on making it look good not how well it will tow plus they are fitting fixed beds in the rear with lots of space to store stuff then a front locker for nice and heavy gas bottles so the front and back are heavy n the middle is light

  4. I'm looking into getting a snorkel the thing is I can't decide which one

Southdown I'm not keen on as its the stainless tube puts me off

The mantec one I can see looking tatty after a few months metal tube and paint chips

Safai lookalike now I can see this just sticking rain water down your air intake as the top horn is fixed to it

Safai snorkel now my problem with that is some tea leaf nicking the top

Now what I want it for is not really deep water wading I want it just incase I get it wrong and it's deeper than I thought

So other than breather pipes what else do I need to move / silicone up

  5. I had a freelander used to tow with it not right heavy stuff only about 1200kg and I sold it and bought a disco 2 td5 and towed the same trailer and on the disco it's like it's not there

I say go for it but a td5 can drink fuel

  6. It were really good up till 6 months since

    Water pump went

    Radiator

    Top water hose

    Air bags

    Compressor

    Lots of bushes

    Abs light

And finally the ace pipe burst

    List of parts carried

    ATF fluid

    Oil

    Anti freeze

    Spair water pump

    Different sizes of heater pipe

    Jublie clips

Metal pipe to join heater pipe

    Metal putty

    Tape

    Fan belt

    Cable ties

    And a full tool kit

    I carry this lot everywhere

    I carry this everywhere

  7. I've got a disco 2 and about 6 months ago it stoped being a reliable car and became a project

I seam to be driving it looking at the dials every few seconds or listening for a noise that should not be there

Everybody keeps saying to me why do you put up with it and my reply is it's a landrover and I like it

It's like the boot is full of tools and spair parts just incase I need them but it's never failed it get me anywere and it's always got me home even tho I've spent ages at the side of the road fixing it

Is it just mine that's like this or are they all the same

  8. You have said what I were thinking to be honest

I've driven it for a few days without the ace pump connected to the valve block

I think then I'll scrap the whole lot n sell it an flea bay

  9. My ace has been leaking for the last 18 months but in the last week it's started leaking loads now the pipe from the pump to the valve block has had it so I cut that and joined it to the return from the valve block giving the pump fluid to pump so it does not destroy it's self

Now I'm wondering do I buy a new pipe or scrap the system as all the pipes look prity buggered

Other one do I need anti roll bars for a mot

I've run it like this for a few days and it drives ok rolls a little more but not much

Also it's lifted about 3 inch with 32" tyres so I don't drive it like a loon

  10. It's like a twin deck cruser I've looked at the max size and it's just in them it just looks big next to the disco

It's also fitted with a 5.7 v8 and a twin prop thing but on a single leg

You have said what I half thought use 3rd gear lock up don't use 4th I've also thought about taking the big spot lamps off to get lots of air to the rad

  11. I've got a boat to move in the next couple of weeks the size is just over 30ft long about 8th wide and about 12ft high pritty big lol

It's on a twin axle trailer and it's got the 3.5 ton hitch like used on ifor trailers it's not a home built trailer so I'm goin to assume it's goin to be pritty heavy too approx 3-3.5 ton

What I want to know is the td5 auto box up to it and the next thing is do you think it's safe as to me it's a bit big to be towed behind a car/landrover

  12. The mot book always seams to put the ball in your court and what he said to me were if in doubt pass and advise

At work I'm a tester n another guy is I'll pass reflectors in the rear lights were as he won't but this is on motorbikes

His argument for this is when the rear lights on you can't see the reflector

My argument is you don't need a reflector as the rear lights on

The mot manual always seams to put it down to your opinion in my eyes

  13. I got the britpart lift kit on my d2 I can't fault the dampers but the springs are a little hard I think I payed about 40quid a shock but standard length will be a bit cheaper

I've heard good things about terraferma shocks

  14. This is true I've heard about them filling with condensation

It were a easy job just felt like it took forever to cut all the old headlamp housing out

Thanks for the diagrams I'll get it sorted this weekend

I engraved the reg on the headlamps and I bought headlight gaurds and I use security screws just to make them that little bit harder to nick

You will never stop someone nicking something but you can make it hard work
