Many thanks for your help. After looking at the state of the door i think it will be easier to try and fit a series tailgate ... when i visit the uk again i will try to find the parts i need. ( parts here are like gold dust )

its my first post so please be gentle ! I run 98 300tdi 110 van for pulling mini diggers around and i need extra space when im working on parts for them . is it possible to change the rear door for a series type of tail gate to give me a work bench... thanks
