As it stands Simon is a No

    D webber & M Walford is a No

As for Pod, lard,Mark and Nobbymogs not sure and have not heard anything.

With regards to myself and Bill our vehicle should be built by then and classed as Std.

I spoke with Jason last week to see what we could group together with regards CSW and if some would get in contact with me to see if we could fill places in BWORC or call it CSW group. Still not heard anything, but please get in touch.

Pod, lard,Mark and Nobbymogs are you in.

    Regards

    Shaun

  2. V8 just the job, But the Discovery is bulky and needs the back end cut off to the rear wheels, the rear roof will get in the way and even trap you in a wooded areas.

Unless your going to tray back it, then it might be worth looking for a Defender 90.

I had a cheap Defender truck cab with 2" spacer lift and roll cage, front and rear winches, but for me was the V8 auto. So much more control except on hill decent, but then you have brakes for that.

Good luck, but remember if you like it becomes very addictive so try and keep to your budget.

  3. Mine use to stay on the trailer until I put the power washer over it, it would take three goes to get it half tidy.

The silt and mud would run to the back and down the beaver tail, a length of 2x3 wood would be nailed diagonal to deflect most waste to one side of the trailer. At the back of the trailer I built a wooden trough to catch most of the muck, the water would then slowly drain away leaving a load of silt. Most times there would be two to three wheel barrows which I would dump in the back garden, the kids use as their jump with their scramblers.

2 to 3 hours normally, but from now on it’s going to be the winch bitches job :i-m_so_happy:

  4. I do winch challenging and Auto is the way to go, a few years ago I was the only one in 4x4 Adventures challenges with Auto but now more and more are changing from Manual to Auto. There is a lack of engine braking but the big pedle sorts that out or use your rear winch.

My challenge 90 truck has a V8 3.5 with 3.9 top and sounds sweet with plenty of grunt, I also have another project with a V8 3.5 manual, but you can feel the difference with 3.9 top and is much better.

Having said all that I'm "selling" my challenge 90 truck with 3.9 top which won the Strd+1 series with 4x4 Adventures 2008 and with my new project removing the V8 manual and replacing it with 300 Tdi Auto, this should sort out the bogg sectoins.

  5. Sorry for any inconvenience caused but I couldn't loose a door for nothing.

Anyway the Std+1 winning series vehicle of 2008 is now up for sale. :o Yes one of you lucky people out there could be the new owner of a vehicle dripping with Trophies. Just think you could tell your mates that you own a "winning 4x4 Adventures winch challange series 2008 vehicle". Wow B)

  6. Ian.

You'll have to be patient. I think that James is still stuck in the deep mud on site or more than likely he's still washing and polishing his truck after he got a small stone stuck in the tyre tread :P

I hear his slippers fell out in the mud, phoned someone to go to Trago Mills to grab another tweed pair and bring them over to Bampton before he could get back into his Landy  .

  7. A "BIG" hand to you James for all the effort and organising you've done through the year, Its defiantly been a Challenge with great events with thrills and spills from start to finish.

I thought I checked and double checked my Landy before the event, stripping down my 8274's after the previous back to back weekend problems, only to find 30 mins into the event front winch went BANG again. I could not believe it not again, Towel and Throw came to mind more than once......pulled ourselves backwards for 2 hours, breaking the rear rope 4 or 5 times, short pulls of about 10m was all we could do come the end.

Popped up to SS and swapped winches round, on one SS reversed back hard against a long embankment when my passenger door opened and was ripped off, Geees.

Having arrived back to the main challenge area the day was almost over, chatted to Liz near the main entrance looking for a couple of easy punches, Liz finally picked herself up and tried to stopped laughing whilst saying James's site. . Anyway there was only one punch area not in use so with nothing else to do or gain we had a pop at it (can't remember the number) which drew a crowd and a round of applause when we finally finished it, thank you for that.

To all you guys that competed this year it’s been a pleasure knowing you, and especially in my group.

Anton and Simon you've been great, and I hope "WE" the competitors have entertained you through the year.

    Big hand to the Marshals,

    Thanks again to all.

  8. Big thank you to you James, It was a great weekend even with the problems I had on Saturday and lost several hours. Come the afternoon we picked up a gear and felt good  not to have more problems, untill the evening say no more .

Sunday was looking good untill my first punch when letting some slack out on the front winch it went BANG :o, spent rest of the morning fixing it. Got going at 1.30pm and got back at 2.29pm shame it was a short day, Every point helps.

Big thank you to Anton, Simon and the Marshals.

Cheers to the rest of you, see you on the 6th ;)
