  1. ralph i think he means the rear panels either side of the door not the rear wing.

I think all you do is drill out the rivets in all the cappings around it, remove the 2 crossmember bolts and you may need to drill out the 2 little rivets eother side of the bolts as i think there are captive nut plates rivetted to the back, will probably need some fiddling around to get it out but can't be too hard

    Good luck

    Dave

Thanks Dave - thats magic - yes its the rear panel that im changing - im also advised, there are some spotwelds underneath the top capping and some by the door aperture - thats cool - i'll do it tomorrow. Thanks everyone for their help

  2. Sorry, not sure why you want to remove this part, is your existing one damaged ?

Id you have a new one you might get a better idea of how it attaches...

Hiya - yes its damaged - quite badly, I have a new one which clearly shows the returns in the panelwork but there are limited pre-drilled fixings holes within it along the capping lines which suggests that you drill your own using the cappings as guides...? - the two crossmember bolt fixing holes are present - so perhaps you use them first to ensure its in the right position......?

  3. Bod - traction control only works side to side on a Defender - not front to back so if like the other have said - you could hear the modulator chattering away the TC was operating but in a cross axle situation your stuffed still. On a D3, Sport etc - its more sophisticated and works across the axles and back to front.

  4. OK - is it trying to move/brake the wheels or absolutely nothing happening? ETC is not perfect and will not guarantee spinning all wheels in a high load situation but it usually bucks and farts around trying quite hard and you should hear the ABS modulator chattering away to itself. It sounds like it isn't working at all but if you are sure the ABS is ok then I don't know why - usually it either all works or none of it

You mention an articulation - so a weel of each axle off the ground yes? - if so Traction control on a defender will not overly assist you as it only works side to side - not front to back.

  5. There are two types of TD5 wheel. One fits pre-defender 90/110 which come with the 4 spoke wheel, the other fits tdi defenders that come with the 2 spoke wheel. The one that fits the early 90/110's is essentially the same as the 2 spoke wheel fitted to RRC's but with a bigger central 'cushion'.

Thanks guys - dont like the big 'cushion' - looks like something i cant mention but hey I'll keep looking

  6. here's one for you guys & girls - how do i doi it without bolt on bits from halfords - ive seen a hydraulic system in the past which locks the clutch pedal solid after turning a key on the dash - cant seem to locate a manufacturer now - anyone got any bright ideas?
