  1. Hi, everyone's help so far has been great. Now I think it is time (82,000 miles) to replace my timing belts on my 2005 Freelander. I bought it used, so I don't know if they have ever been changed and my wife uses this car so I don't want to take a chance. The Rave manual makes this sound somewhat complicated, and several new bolts must be used and special tools employed. I think I can buy or rent the tools, but what is the source for the bolts that need replacing and can anyone give me warnings or hints to do this job right? Thanks, Chris
  2. Thanks very much for the advice. I will change the front wheel bearings before anything else. I am sure it is on this site, but I cannot find any instructions/photos on removing the front CV joints/axles on a Freelander. Can anyone direct mo to this? Thanks again, Chris
  3. Hi. I'm new here. I have a 2005 Freelander with about 70,000 miles. Runs great, but has a whining noise probably coming from right front. It increases with speed, without regard to what gear the automatic gearbox is in. It's been this way since I bought it, and does not seem to be getting worse, but I'm concerned since my wife drives this car. I bought a used IRD to install because I think it is the right output bearing in the IRD that may be bad, but the noise could also be coming from the right wheel bearing or CV. I also bought new front axles for both sides. First, I'd like to know if someone has an idea about where that whining may actually be coming from. Second, if it is the IRD, can anyone give me some ideas about how to remove it? Any tips? Thanks very much, Chris.
