Anyone help at all, cheers

First time post so be gentle! We have a 1.8 petrol k series 51 plate. Just passed it's MOT but the eml has started flickering and the engine sounds as if it's misfiring or fluttering. As it's intermitant haven't been able to get the fault code read. Could anyone advise on what to look for in the engine. I'm thinking spark plugs/wires? Any help will be greatly appreciated
