Maybe why not just get rid of the springs on the back completely and replace with air bags like ones off a truck then you got best of both worlds.

I'm not sure of the rate for the rbk500300 as they are the lastest spec ones for a County and not on that list.

I had them fitted on my last defender and there were great. One thing with springs if you just want standard hight buy genuine parts only they arnt much more than aftermarket and last ages.

They fit a 90 but not a 110.

The 110 has bigger springs.

The purple/brown springs are now the new spec HD springs.

If you want a better ride go with the latest spec CSW springs.

Nrc8045 Yellow/yellow fronts both sides ( they are triple progressive rate )

BKB500300 green/white/white rear both sides (there are dual rate progressive rate)

I'd Inform the insurance company before fitting, as for are they legal it seems still a gray area however Landrover seem to have found a way as two of the three LE edition defenders due out this year have LED headlights.

Yeah it was my money. There were reasons why I bought that system.

As I said I looked in to whole exhaust thing before buying and made a choice that I was happy with. You might not be but so what.

I'd like a real life test to see what and how big a difference these 4-2-1 manifolds make and in my opinion it will be small.

Also the rimmer system isn't an one size fits all, they do two sizes and I got the one for a 3.5 and is not made by rimmer by the way.

I did a lot of research into systems before buying and over all the rimmer system was in the middle of the group. I wanted something that was no hassle to fit or a mis-match of parts.

As for the "go" as I said I've gained drivability over what I had, if 4-2-1 are better then so be it but there's is no off the shelf full system including those manifolds.

I can't see the 4-2-1 being any better than what I've fitted, My 110 pulls like a train in 5th from 40-70mph and as I said earlier my 110 is just over a ton heavier than a standard 110 (unloaded).

I wasn't looking for race car performance all I wanted was a stainless steel system of a high quality that included manifolds.

I did try the 4-2-1 disco manifolds before I got the system from rimmers bros, it was a pain in the backside it fitted poorly, leaked and just felt a mis-match of parts. A mate recommend the system from rimmers as he had no problems fitting his.

It's stainless from front to back, I fitted it in under an hour and is gas tight, sounds nice and not too loud.

It comes down to if you want ease of fitting then get the full rimmer bros one and have a slight loss in low down power if any. Or buy a mis-match of parts and have a nightmare in fitting some 4-2-1 disco manifolds as there's no stainless option for the mainfolds for 4-2-1.

I got the rimmer bros system on my 110 V8. The system fitted very easily together and is of very good quality. My 110 is a factory V8 so it might have helped with it fitting so easily.

I got the 4-1 manifolds and to be honist I've not noticed any loss of low to midrange power in fact I feel I've got more power it drives much nicer with the rimmer system on that it did before and considering that my 110 is heavier that a normal one I think any loss of power would be noticed.

Rimmer bros do a stud kit with brass nuts.

I wouldn't get them refurbed, I'd get them set up first and go from there, if they still out then get them refurbed or if you look around you can get new ones for no more money.

It's straight forward to set them up but time consuming. You do need a few tools to do it correctly like a carb balancer and I use a exhaust gas meter too.

If you get someone to do it for you make sure they know what they are doing. Ask a few classic car clubs for some advice on who to use.

Shame your not closer as I'd set them up for you.

Sounds like they need to be fully set up. It's straight forward but takes time to get them spot on. Theres a section in the Landrover v8 manual which you can find online.

Also it's best to use a carb balancer rather than by ear or feel as you can get them spot on that way.

The overflow pipe is it the ones that just pour the fuel onto the floor? If so your carbs are running to rich.

That pipe is connected to the main body of the carb not the fuel bowl. So there too much fuel going into the carb at idle but when you apply some throttle the vacuum will suck the fuel back.

The mixture screw will only need a small turn anti clockwise from memory to rectify the problem.

I wasn't going to get the tubular manifolds when I was looking but I ended getting the sports system with manifolds and it was the best thing I did.

They fit with no problems, it's not over noisy and it passed the Mot with them no problems.

I would highly recommend getting them. I haven't wrapped them as I've heard bad things when the wrapping get old.

My 110 does pull better with the sports system on it compared with the old system.

There shouldn't be any difference if you take the vac off at idle, it really sounds like your timing is way out.

When I set the timing on mine I always do it with the vac disconnected and a warm engine.

I'd get it checked asap, halfords sell timing guns which arnt too bad.

Also plugs 5 and 7 the leads must not touch each other that can cause problems as they fire one after the other

What plugs were in it?? I use champion ones as I find them better than NGK.

Andy just to clarify you get the misfire when you drive it and Rev it hard yes? Would you say it after mid revs 3-4k.

Have you set the correct timing on the distributor with a timing light? And is your vacuum hose in good condition and is the one way valve fitted and fitted the right way round??

Hd chassis on 110/130 have plate welded on the top and bottom of the chassis rails.

Gvw's depend on the vehicle my ex military one has a gvw of 4ton

Just tighten them till they are tight. Just make sure the landy is on it's 4 tyres. There's no torque value for that nut and bolt just tighten till your happy.
