Thank you Sir! A friend said the same and I cleaned my MAF with carb cleaner and thought it made a difference, albeit small. I'll buy a new one tomorrow and let you know.

It has had a new one fitted last February so I assume it is OK.

Brand new..........and all seemed OK in the air box. I have even removed the air mass flow sensor and aleaned it, which I have to say appeared to make a difference, but it may be wishfull thinking. i have now added fule system cleaner to see if that makes a difference.

I am new to LR ownership and have a 2001 TD5 '90'. (should have bought one years ago!) Under gentle acceleration the engine performs perfectly, but if I press the accelerator firmly the engine splutters as though through fuel starvation. I have changed the fuel filter to no avail. Otherwise all is fine. Does anyone have an idea what may cause this? RHM
