Hi I'm new here and thought I'd share a little tip with ya. I recently realised that the temp guageon my 1998 20l diesel freelander wasnt working. Wondering if it was sensor (most likely) or the guage or wiring to it I did the following. Firstly I disconnected the wire from the sensor and attached a lenght or wire between the disconnected plug and the earth terminal of the battery. This tld me the wiring to the guage and the guage itself was fine. Naturally the logical conclusion was the sensor itself. For £14 I replaced this and now have a functioning guage again. I know this it a trivial matter but it might just help one of you if you encounter the same problem one day?
