  1. HI there I need a litle bit of advice and help on a behalf of a good romanian friend . The short version of the story is this : He bought a Range Rover Sport 2.7 tdi in 2006 from Range Dealer brand new in leasing for his company . He done all the maintenance and services only at the dealer ,he has all the receipts. All this time he drove aproximately 200000 KM aprox 125.000 miles . Two weeks ago the car stopped in the middle of the road with a big bang coming from the engine . He was recovered to the the garage and he could not believe when they told them the crankshaft is broken and the costly price associated with it . They asked at Rover Romania to put the engine right for about 120.000 lei which is the equivalent of £23000 !!! I advise him to complaint to Rover as is not normal for such an expensive car to have the crankshaft broken after only 125K miles . I had a Citroen AX with 160k on clock and was running with no problems , not to mention other cars still going fine hundreds of thousands of miles. Coming back to the subject he is looking at getting a reconditioned engine as the sum quoted by Rover is far to high . He asked me to look for an engine in UK which I have already found on couple of websites but to be honest I don't really know who should we trust as we don't want to find that we end up with a dodgy engine. I have found this http://www.rangeroverengines.co.uk/ http://turner-engineering.co.uk/html/V8engines.html www.idealengines.co.uk/ - but it seems they have a litle bit of a bad reputation after reading some forums I would really apreciate any advice you can give . Thank you .
