  1. Great thanks for that, I have been told that I may need to pour just a thimbleful of gas into the carb throat to begin the whole firing process.. Not sure how true that is but I'll certainly have a crack at the spark plug side of things!
  2. Hi, I'm a landy lover from way down under in New Zealand. Having just bought my first land rover (1969 series 2a swb) for close to bugger all ($900) I am in need of expertise on how to get the damn engine to turn over. The previous owner had it running sweetly until he tried to fiddle with the mixture screw on the zenith carb and now the starter motor just cranks, and the motor won't catch. I've got gas in the tank, spark plugs look nice and clean without a lot of deposits, and the carb doesn't look warped. What's missing from the equation? I'm absolutely stumped. Any help would be much appreciated. Also if anyone knows how to decode chassis numbers I would love to hear from you!
