Hi Owl
got the 9.1 stage 2.1 engine .still running it in but it seems like it will be nice.
Was it just the head or engine as well, and if so which cam shaft, the "power Plus"

At this rate , you owe me a freebie !!!!!!

Owl & Philbert - crikey, I've got a queue now!
I'll do some thinking and work out some numbers, not having a 2.25 here to "prototype" on may complicate things a little, if you were able to get the adapter plate as per Edward's post made up and bolt the TBI on so you're happy with it it would save me a lot of faffing this end. Perhaps it's worth doing a forum group buy and getting a few made? I'm more than happy with wiring, plumbing, and tuning though.

I'm just looking at buying a Turner Engine, Whats your ACR like ?
What spec did you get 8:1 , 9:1
Fridge, It worth doing the figures to see what come like, I was deffinatly going to get rid of the distributer as well,

The SU is the next best thing to fuel injection, and is good for torque etc as it is a variable orifice and jet system.
Another thing you are looking at less than half the price of efi , which with such a low state of tune engine is a bit of a sledgehammer walnut situation JMHO
Which model SU and what manifold would you use with it ?
-
Crikey I have to say £500 was a guestimate but if you're serious then I'm happy to do some more accurate sums and have a go, for a bit extra you could do away with the distributor too.
Fridge you going to Donnington ?
-
For £475 you can fuel inject the flippin' thing and have even better driveability than any carb setup.
Hell for £500 I'll to fuel inject it for you just for the giggle.
Fridge
I am considering your offer !
I take it you will supply all the bits ?
-
Best bang for the buck, go SU HIF 44 , get someone to make you up a tubular adapter, and put on a better exhaust.
Youll get more go, and better fuel economy to boot. JMHO
but what about the "This greatly enhances low speed driveability and torque, essential for off road driving. " how does the SU compare ?

Knew the company???
Er...........Webcon are the manufacturers of Weber carburettors!!! You cant get much more heard of than that!!!
Jon
You'll have to forgive me Jon, I see you do seem to know it all and some of us have a lot to learn

Hi
I was trolling the net for info on which carbs to look out for on my 2 1/4 rebuild and noticed this ?
http://www.webcon.co.uk/1790026200%20Land%20Rover.doc
I don't have that sort of money to spend , but wondered if anyone come across a vehicle with one fitted or knew the company?

What improvements do you get from the DIS system, I was thinking of fitting it to any new engine, but is it worth the effort ?
Whilst I'm on the subject, what other improvements are worth considering regarding the ancileries ?

I tried to deal with ACR some time back. Basically i was interested in the power plus head, cam, manifold, carb, headers etc for a 2.25 or 2.5 in my 2a, it was going to be a £1000 plus bill just for the bits only, before i commited to the expence i wished to speak with them as i was concerned that it would result with all revs and no grunt(no good for towing) also concerns about gearbox strength as i didnt want to end up with a new hobby of gearbox rebuilding/changing. I gave up the ACR idea after repeated unanswered e-mails and phone calls where i was told that Roland will call back (after shutting the shop) but never did over a period of 4 to 5 weeks.
So what did you end up with ?

I don't think the Power Plus sounds like the way to go, I'm not looking for a motorway cruiser, The turner option sounds more like it. I'm going to give them both a call and discuss what options are available
Cheers

Hi
What are you hoping to lift with this crane, how often are you looking to lift a load, once a week, a day or hour ?
Perhaps at 500kg you could use a davit as previously suggested, http://www.didsbury.com/didsbury.davit.asp theres a few idea's here.
Cheers

Nothing Wrong with applying a little Lube to your Tool !!!

Was looking for lube and have used this company in the past and just had a quick look at the specials this week and wondered if these could be of use to anyone :-

So the options seem to be :-
1) Sort out the 2.25 Petrol, but sounds like throwing good money down the drain
2) 2.5 Petrol or 2.5 NA Diesel
4) 200Tdi
As all these will bolt straight on the 2a Chassis or is there any other options ?
So whats the best option and any recomendations where to get a good one ?
Cheers

Totally agree, I'm just a bit worried that its more of a road engine and won't have a low end torque for off roading, whats the control like on, did you have the SU carb kit as well ?
