Installing a Detroit locker and 4.11 cwp in my rear diff, which has the doughnut type prop joint. Just wanted to check on flamge removal / refit procedures.
Thanks, Andy
Installing 4.11 final drives and Detroit lockers, but can't find torque spec's for the pinion nut. Have the Land Rover assembly procedure but it doesn't seem to be there.
Thanks.
I am fitting it in the rear of my Series 1 Discovery, and a trutrac in the front. I am the only one that drives it and am willing to sacrifice some on road behaviour for better off road traction. My mate has the same set up and his diff is not noisy.
Anyway, back to my original question, anyone have the diff set up info???
Thanks.
So come on then, tell us a bit about them! Did you make them yourself? Or buy them - if so who from?
Home made, 75mm x 50mm steeel box, just cut a section out of the front bar to get the tapered shape. 4mm wall thickness so pretty stout. Just need to finish making the steering guard now.
I am considering changing my diff final drives to 4.11. I have a 300 TDI Discovery with 235/85/16 tyres and believe this would make a big improvement to the driveability and was wondering if anyone has made this modification?
I am looking at getting some alloys for my Discovery series 1. Just wondering if there are any stock alloys available that have more offset, e.g Defender, range Rover. I am running 235 /85/16 tyres and having the wheel out a touch would give me a bit more lock.
Intercooler pipes are not too bad, but I will check the intercooler. I spoke to the previous owner who said that they had a bad experience with the vege diesel, had to replace the pumps and I think that explains the black gunge.
Well boosting is OK, 15 psi and holding which I believe is good. In the process of going through the car, I changed the air and fuel filters. This has made a big improvement, but also I cleaned the sediment filter. I could not believe the amount of deposits in there, obviously not been looked at too much!
I am investigating the turbo, as the motor seems dead. I recently bought the car, my first Discovery. I just got a T piece tonight to fit a boost gauge, so that is my next step.
just checking the play on the turbo (TDI 300), and seems to be excessive side to side play, maybe 1.5mm. I know you get a little bit of end float, but the side to side seems too much.
