  1. Hello everyone, greetings from Brazil ! I have started a project to rebuild a Brazil-assembled Defender 110 CSW (300 Tdi year 2000), and convert it into a crew cab in the process ... In a quest "to preserve it for eternity" (or at least for a reasonable amount of time) I am thinking about galvanizing the chassi, firewall, columns etc. Since galvanised chassis are ready available in the UK (and hence must be used by some), I was wondering if anyone could share their experience w.r.t. getting the paint job right. All steel parts of the vehicle are actually quite well preserved, with only minor rust spots (chassi, kickpanels, doors). I guess the decision I am trying to make is galvanization vs. a good paint job ... Any input is greatly appreciated - thank's very much in advance. Cheers, Chris Christian B Eckardt Rio de Janeiro S 22°57' 54.48" W 43°13' 24.70"

Dera all, Thank's for your inputs. In a first reponse to the lawyer's letter, the site was taken off the air temporarily, as we are still trying to find out what on earth is going on. Best regarsds from Brazil ! Christian B Eckardt Rio de Janeiro S 22°57' 54.48" W 43°13' 24.70"
  3. Hello everyone, Greetings from Brazil ! Unusual question from this end: the Land Rover enthusiasts association in Brazil (called "clubelandrover", a non-commercial association) have been contacted by some local intellectual properties lawyers, apparently on behalf of Land Rover, with a request to take the association's site off the air and pass on the domain to an entity "to be named by Land Rover" ... Does The Land Rover Forum have any special understandings with Land Rover in the UK w.r.t. using the brand name in the forum, or have Land Rover every tried to obtain control of your site ? Best regards, Christian B Eckardt Rio de Janeiro S 22°57' 54.48" W 43°13' 24.70"
  4. Dear all, Thank's again for your respective inputs. I ended up solving the issue with 2 brandnew OM disks + EBC brake pads (green version). Cheers, Chris Christian B Eckardt Rio de Janeiro S 22°57' 54.48" W 43°13' 24.70"
  5. Thank's guys, already tried all that without success. Even had the disks on the lathe (maintaining specs though) ... Does anybody have experience with the drilled and grooved disks, such as from EBC or Britpart ? Cheers, Chris
  6. Greetings from Brazil ! Just wondering if there are any techtips on how to fix the rather nerve-wrecking sqealing of the rear brakes. Tried about everything, except for an exchange of the disks for new originals. The vehicle is a Brazil-assembled (2001) Defender 110 CSW / 300 TDi with Salisbury rear axle and some 140.000 km on the clock. Any help is greatly appreciated ! 7. Hello from Brazil, Thought the attached wiring diagrams for the 300 Tdi might be of interest to some ... All the best, 300Tdi_electrics.pdf
  8. Hello again from Brazil ... Anybody with experience on fitting a pyroprobe to a 300 Tdi exhaust manifold ? Will have a more efficient intercooler fitted + pump adjusted, and would like to be able to monitor the EGT to make sure I don't wreck the engine ... Chris Def 110 (2001) Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
  9. Drae Garth, I did get one pdf of one English version, which is different from the German version. If you don't mind, please send me your's too, just in case it contains additional information ... Thank's, Chris Def 110 (2001) Rio de Janeiro (Brazil)
  10. Dear all, I have recently come across a copy of Landrovers Water Ingress Manual for Defenders (LRL 0174), however, in German ... Would anyone have an original copy in English, or know where to get one - hardcopy or electronic version (pdf) ?
  11. Hello all and greetings from Brazil ! New to this forum, however, not to the "machine" ... I drive a Brazil-mounted (2001) Defender 110 CSW (300 Tdi), which I have equipped with Autralian OME springs (front: OME 767, rear: OME 755) and matching shocks (front: OME N115, rear: OME N44), plus OME PU bushes (yellow). A hoped / expected, the overall performance and response from suspension and steering improved significantly, both on the tarmac road and off-road. The suspension lift gained is about 1,5" and resulted in a reduction of the caster angle from approx +2º (original) to zeroº. Initially, this was corrected through the use of OME caster correction bushes in the front radius arms, which brought the angle back to +2º where it belongs. All fine and no complaints, the car handled beautifully for about 30.000 km, after which not much was left over from the caster-correcting bushes, which is perhaps not surprising, given the assymetric distribution of the rubber in the bushes. I have come across (and am currently importing to Brazil) caster-corrected radius arms (+ 3º) and cranked trailing arms from QT Services down in Liskeard, which should work well with this suspension. Does anyone have hands-on experience with these suspension parts or any other products from QTS ? Most grateful for any input ! Chris (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) cbeckardt@uol.com.br
