I arrange , organize 4x4 outings (day, weekend and long trips) together with my brother. Love to work on my landy. We also like to rebuild old 4x4 vehicles. Recently bought a 1984 Land Cruiser - Repaired, re-spray etc.
  1. hi i must replace my front diff - looking for a secondand unit. i am staying in south africa - can anybody recommend someone who will not charge me an arm or a leg. What is mt diff ratio- what type of diff. thanks Neels
  2. Hi Maybe you already know or discussed it previously. I installed rear diff-lock and center diff-lock (just cable) on my td5 disco 2 - The locker (back) and traction control front is working perfectly. Actually it is working tons better than just the traction control or just the rear diff-lock. (Obviously with center diff-lock engaged) The only hick-up is that when center difflocked is engaged and i turn of the car and then restart it the traction control + Abs is not working. First unlock center diff before you turn of the vehicle that way when you start the vehicle again everything will be working correctly. Neels Visit our website : www.wildafrica4x4tours.co.za

  4. Hi Yes Martin propably the best advice i received untill now ... He He He (Wont give you a address of a forum again... He He He) - welcome anyway - Go Springboks Go!!! Dom - Great advice did it - will look at it again and see if it gets hot again. Neels
  5. Hi MJIBEX - thanks for the advice - did it - mine working perfectly. nicks90 - good advice - will have it check this week. I did blocked of the egr valve. Also replaced wastegate and the sensor that located under the aircon. (there is 3 thin pipes - one goes to the wastegate) - Performance is better - but not much. I am close to the point of accepting the car as it is. Neels
  6. Hi I drive a disco 2 td5 After driving today (rainy weather) i notiched steam coming from my right rear wheel (rim). It turned out that only the right rear wheel is getting very hot. Even the air inside the tyre is hot. the other wheels were cold. Did anyone experience something similar. - maybe brakes - wheel bearing etc.? Neels
  7. "Bogmonster" - The 15" wheels (steel) are from the BMW 5-series - 6 or 6.5 j - works perfect for 265/75/15 tyres. "RRX" - I am not sure but i think it is measured from the wheels - test was done in 4wd. Even with a uni-chip they could only manage 271nm torgue. (They had one in stock) The correct figures are as follows: Speed: 89km/h @ 4192 rpm Power : 73.0 kw @ 3814 rpm torgue : 248 nm @ 2213 rpm "Fridgefreezer" - You may be right that the td5 will never be a race car - but doing 90km/h (full throttle) on a average hill is not right. (Everyone that has test drive the vehicle said that the car was not performing as it should be).
  8. Hi (Previous topic - "Bigger wheels - loss of power ") I took my dico 2 td5 automatic for a dyno test - results were 248 nm torgue and 73 kw (should be 330 nm and 95 kw) - turbo boost was 1.0 bar (they said it can be adjusted to 1.2bar) I am now convinced that the bigger tyres (265/75/15) are not the reason for my power loss. I already did the following: - new diesel pump - new diesel filter - cleaned the intercooler etc. - replaced the turbo boost pipes - tested another airflow meter - vehicle performed the same. - Turbo boost test - 1.0 bar (They say it can be turned up to 1.2 bar) - new fuel regulator - Airflow too turbo is 212 while driving (hope it make sense) - New tophead gascet - computer test - no fault. - Also found oil in the loom that goes to the computer box. (Land Rover said that this will not have any effect on the performance of the vehicle.) What is the "EGR" and can this be my problem? Can I do a compression test on the td5? Somebody also said that there is a sensor on the transfer box - this tells the vehicle that you are in high range or low range. Sometimes when driving in high range it still registers that you are in low range - result is that you dont get all the power. they say one can bypass this. - Is this true? What can i do next? Neels
  9. Hi Can somebody perhaps tell me if it is possible to replace my td5 with a v8 petrol engine. With regard to the electronics etc. Maybe someone have done it. Neels
  10. Thanks for the suggestions. what do mean with adjusting the pump up and do you mean a bigger intercooler or can you add another intercooler? my knowledge regarding this is limited. (What Type) sorry for shouting neels
  11. Thanks for the reply. what do you mean by adjusting the pump up and do you mean a bigger intercooler? (what kind) Neels
  12. SOMEONE SUGGESTED THAT I CAN REMOVE THE CENTER BOX ON MY TD5 FOR MORE POWER. CAN I - WHAT WILL THE EFFECT BE. (WHAT ABOUT BACK PRESSURE)
  13. I REPLACE MY 245/70/16 TYRES WITH 265/75/15 STT COOPER TYRES. THE RESULT - AWSOME OFF-ROAD, BUT I LOST A GREAT DEAL OF POWER. WHEN TRAVELLING AT 120KM ON OPEN ROAD AND ACCELERATE- (REVS 3000) THE REVS GOES UP TO 4000 RPM. BUT VEHICLE STAYS AT 120KM. WILL IT HELP TO CHANGE TRANSFER BOX TO DEFENDER TRANSFER BOX AND WILL IT FIT MY DISCO ? NEELS
