  1. the diff lock made all the difference in the world. Also, I have since installed a webasto airtop heater which kicks some serious ass. Like a sauna in there now.
  2. thanks guys, that thread above is helpful. I'll let you know how the install goes.
  3. Can anyone point me in the direction of a nice and tidy webasto 2000 air heater install? Going to tackle this project and think it might be helpful to see someone's approach to it first.
  4. First post here, was told this was a great forum. I have 110 defender with an 06 TD5 engine. Really enjoying the truck so far. Have a few overall questions if anyone can provide some insight would be really helpful. 1. Heat - this truck is amazing in many ways, but the heater is pretty lackluster. I've covered half the radiator with cardboard, and it's helped a good bit, but still not great in the extreme cold. Besides a webasto system, has anyone found other ways to heat up the cab? I've heard anything 12v is not worth the box it comes in. 2. Relays. Do you have to have the battery disconnected? My relays have caused a few incidents that almost stranded me. While I'm glad they were simple to fix, I'm wondering if there's a higher quality relay out there that won't fail as quickly. 3. Diagnostic tool. Seems owning a td5 in north america is a tricky affair. I'm thinking of picking up a diagnostic tool. Can anyone recommend one? I don't mind spending the money for one as one issue could pay for itself here. Shops that may not know what's going on will charge for their detective time. It's bad enough when I'm paying for their defender education, it's really nasty when I'm paying for misdiagnosis and the work that goes into repairs that are not the actual problem. 4. Beach driving - seems the truck handles poorly in 4WD high. Handles so much better in diff lock high, like a different truck. Wondering if anyone has other tips for beach driving as I do it often in the fall. I don't want to deflate tires too much, as I'm using the for my daily driver as well. 5. Fuel pump. I've heard these are wearable items and will eventually fail. Are there any signs before failure? Is the all makes pump acceptable? Is it a big job to replace the pump? Lastly, how often do you replace the fuel filter? thanks all, just a handful of green questions for a new defender owner. appreciate the help.
