  1. Grand thanks as ever... I look forward to the massively increased fuel economy also due to the rolling circumference I wish! They should look purdy though.
  2. Boosts with standard fit tyres (Grabbers) are larger diameter than standard Steels hence the question, just though there might be an easy solution, ie a gear in speedo drive to change, can't imagine factory has two sets of speedos, but then again... Yes new nuts too, shouldn't really use steel nuts on any alloy wheel.
  3. I have a chance at some Boosts for my 90 to replace the standard Steelies. Does the speedo need recalibrating? Does the Factory fit diff ones depending on wheel choice? Seems almost cheaper to but some second hand Boosts rather than new set of Boots... On a side note, we have 3" of rain and flooding and the 90 is in garage having it's mot,
  4. A. What's the perfect vehicle to go lamping for T Rex? Q. See above
  5. Really blimey... will do! Is it a bad idea (or even legal) to wire them to the full beam? Not idea what lights to get really....
  6. Think I would prefer the 'U' bar, but thanks Mr Dirty! (I presume you mean full wraparound, headlights etc?) Cheers G
  7. Before winter I want to fit a front nudge bar, the inverted 'U' type that bolts onto front bumper with two spots mounted 'inside'. Sorry bit of a bad description... What would the good folk of LR4X4 recommend? I'm assuming the bar will be a bolt on, but being an electrical numpty is there a ready spur from the loom? Could I link to high beam? I do a lot of driving across Bodmin moor which can be very dark in winter and full of animate 'objects'. Would make it much easier to have the lamps 'on' high beam rather than flick on switch. Think I would prefer black powder coated bar rather than the rubber 'Defender' one, but open to all suggestions. Thanks in advance. Gavin
  8. 235/85/16 Boost Alloys, question is are they a bolt on upgrade? Someone said my turning circle will be even worse. Quite fancy some, is there an easy way to tell if they are genuine LR. Cheers Gavin p.s. I have bog (excuse the pun) standard steels
  9. Bought a set of roof bars and a ladder off them last year, upstands started rusting almost straight away. Finally got so bad I rang Crappocks and was told it was atmospheric conditions, I pushed the point and was asked to email some pics. They were so bad as to stain my lovely white truck orange. Took me two weeks of phone calls to get them to change it, had to send them back at my expense, nearly lost t he will to live in the end, never going back. Rubbish. The new ones have already started to rust Guess they make it so hard to return stuff you just give up...
  10. Very interesting... Thanks Tobes. Santana site Copying is the sincerest form of flatery I guess although I guess they were in cahoots with LR, I'd like to see one of these though: The Land Rover 109" "Rural Taxi" is launched, with 5 doors and a second row of forward-facing seats.
  11. Have you seen that awful C4 programme, well I think I saw the truck they use or a similar one on the A38 Bodmin roundabout. Anyone know what it is? Cheers G
  12. As the title suggests just got my Exmoor bench seats and lapbelts, but no instructions whatsoever, have emailed them though In the meantime... If anyone has any tips as to position of lapbelts and seats or better still photos that would be smashing! Have to say their load area mats are good, very thick (6mm) should provide a little sound deadening too, the bench frames quality isn't the best and the hold up strap hook doesn't, but they do the job. Cheers G
  13. Wife still thinks it looks like an Ice Cream Van...
  14. Had to take a few snaps on the school run this morning, here's my favourite.
  15. Georges Cinq eh... how the other half live I normally stay at the Crillon Guess the pipe snaps not as rare as I thought, RAC did have a flexi pipe but wrong thread pattern. Running great again.
  16. Yes TDi, and all brackets present and correct, but who's to say they were not put back at some point after some initial vibration damage or a careless whack from something, would take a hell of a clank though... You can see the old and new metal... Just unlucky I guess.
  17. Well me and my daughter broke down last night in Penzance. Defender lost power with the overpowering smell of diesel. Turned out the pipe to number 2 had sheared off at the bottom join (furthest from head) RAC took 5 hours to get us home (50 miles) Roger Young came out and fitted a new one this morning (great service) gratis as still under RY warranty. Technician said never seen it before... Anyone had it happen to them? Looked like the pipe had been cracked for a while as there was some dull metal on fracture as well as the newly sheared shiny bit. Anyways back up and running although stinking RY 10/10 RAC 4/10 Defender - perfect handsome! G
  18. Brilliant! I love this place, nothing like it. ~Cheers~ G
  19. That's kind of what I thought, just not sure which one. I guess logic would suggest the four lead one is the speakers and the three the power, earth etc for head unit. (the one in the background is the one I have wired in for speakers btw)
  20. Defender 90 MY 98 I have bought a genuine LR Radio kit and it's instructions are a little vague. For connection to the head unit it supplies a small connector with various leads which it says you need to connect to various leads from loom, fair enough. But (and I'm no sparkie) there seems to be two connectors coming off the loom which I could use to plug straight to the head unit 'out'. Anyone know if this is possible and which one I should use? Thanks in advance. G Oh and btw how many parts is the dash in? !!@!!*
  21. Under the centre seat of my TDi is this curious bit of equipment, am I being tracked by MI5? Looks factory fitted, and looks like something goes down to gbox, I'm guessing some kind of Tachograph? Has various scart and din type connectors... (Looks like my 90 was first registered by 'Industrial Aggregates' or someone so I guess a Tach would fit) Second question can I remove it easily? Cheers G
