  1. Thanks for the advice guys. I think the spacers will do my job nicely. I suppose if your Rover gets driven every day and used to extrems off road it will mean more wear and tear with a suspension lift. Worth it to get more rubber on I think. :P

Bushes get a bit more hammered, particularly the trailing arm chassis ones, this can be sorted if you go for cranked replacements, not essential though. Anti roll bar needs removed otherwise it is ridiculously tight, however I don't think your '86 vintage will have one so it's a moot point. Self centring is meant to be less sharp because of the change in castor angle but tbh I havn't noticed any difference

If you're after bigger rubber Carryduff Tyres (in carryduff funnily) or Magowan in Mallusk do good deals on BFGs if you push them a bit.... B)

  2. Anyone had problems with vibrations at speed? Or weeping diffs where the angle has caused the seals to leak?

I only ask beacause I was interested in doing this and I was put off by the local landy garage and a few things I read on here!

    Cheers Ted

I've not had any problems with vibrations or leaking diffs. May be more of a issue with shorter props though.

  3. I'd like to lift my 86 csw 110 by 2 inches. I have decided to use the spacer method. Mainly due to cost and to get an idea of what it will look like, hopefully down the road I will go to the proper suspension lift. Has anyone any advise they could share with me. Is there anyone on here who could make up what I need? I would need the parts sent to NI.

    Thank's Mark

I used the 2" lift packers from llama 4x4 . I just fitted the spacers, extended brake lines and 2" longer shocks. I've had this set up it on the 110 for nearly a year now and can't fault it on or off road. David's dead on to deal with (he posts on here too) and doesn't fleece for NI delivery. :D

    Andrew.

    PS: Good suspension summary here:Sus

  4. nooo thought i was gonna be the only one with the t-shirt in clri!! :P
AFAIK there's a few more said they wanted the latest LR "extreme" acessory :ph34r:

Apparently the mere act of wearing a HOFS t-shirt doubles your winch speed (Hydraulic only of course :P)

BTW I think I've got the only one up North :P

  5. Got mine today! Went something like this:

swmbo: heres the post for you, what is it?

swmbo: what is it, whys it got russian on it?

me: Oh its some high quality pron.

swmbo: no its not, its about Land Rovers isn't it, you sad barsteward! :P

Thanks to HFH and all for sorting this out.. :D

  6. been through this 'fun' recently <_< , with a fair bit of wiggling and poking (long nose pliers did the job for me) I got the rollers out and pulled the whole hub/disc off.

The inner race was stuck on the stub axle, as this is very hard and smooth (ooerr! :o ) steel, I found that nothing could get enough purchase to break the 'weld' with the axle

So I (very) carefully used a dremel to create some ridges on the race and clamped a big pipe wrench on to it. This gave enough grip and leverage to break the seal with the axle shaft. After that I just gently tapped it of with a small chisel, working round the race lip to avoid damaging the stub axle..did take a while though

  7. see the ZF4 pump that comes with the mile marker kit for fitting to the 200tdi in the aircon slot,

is that man enough for the job for making the winch fast enough & pull enough like the one on petal? or do i need to throw that TF & use a different pump?

Currently got an XP powered 8274 & "may" consider changing sides

Reach arm back really really far and throw massively TF :) :)

I'd show you a video of my MM and ZF74 at 'full chat' but you'd die of boredom :)

I nearly did filming it

Works for me as I'm not usually in a hurry, it'll pull enough and all day. If you want more speed it's bigger pump, bigger reservoir, new crontrol block and probably a different pump propulsion method (PTO, crank, or chain) as I think (stand to be corrected on this one) the belts will start slipping fairly quickly if you try to extract a higher load off them.

So in a word no, its not in the same league as Petals Type R -ish Milemarker setup.

    Andrew.
