There is plenty of woods, side slopes, decents, axle twisters, water & mud.
Its just £25.00 per vehicle for the day including use of a pressure washer at the end of the day.
The site is open from 10am & anyone with any kind of 4x4 is welcome.

I always use Frosties boxes......
They're Grrrrrrreat.
Frosties are the best ever but that said i'd only make a gasket out of a frosties box if the occasion really called for it, I'd agree wit Matt, phone somewhere like Brookwells, they'll send you any gasket you want and it'll cost hardly anything.
I have seen an empty pot noodle pot taped over the end of the front hubs on an 07 plate defender before so they could take the shafts out, but that was in the middle of the desert in Morroco so i'd say the occasion called for it!

I had the same with mine a while back, took the brakes all to pieces, made sure none of the seals in the axle where leaking any oil onto the brakes, cleaned all the brakes up & replaced all the caliper pistons & seals(which where absolutly shot), job done, problem sorted! B)

Thanks Mike, Will do

Hmm interesting!
Yellow, did you find that the variable vein turbo made a distinct difference? Like a big enough difference to warrent spending the extra cash?
I've heard that the variable vein turbo's are less reliable & have a shorter life expectancy.....?
-
That was not exactly the response I was looking for
AlliSport do do turbo's they even do a VNT one for 300tdi's with variable veins B) but they reckon theres not enough room for a VNT on a 200tdi
-
As my turbo imploded at the weekend I need a new one and was thinking of getting the AlliSport uprated turbo for a 200tdi.
Anyone had one or know anything about them??
Cheers, Maria

Scary voodoo .............. you were so close
It was an easy guess Simons nick name should be Murphy, like Murphy's Law..........
Anything that can go wrong, will go wrong!

Lovin the colour of your Dakar!

Sikaflex is the stuff to use. It comes in tubes like sillic@nt and unlike sillic@nt it can be overpainted.
Sikaflex is awesome stuff! That is if you never intend on getting them off ever again

not long. but the trucks not gonna be ready anyway!
question is, whats gonna break first, winch motors (now at 24v) or drivetrain?
It'll all break & all at the same time! Hopefully not before you start tho!
-
I'll second that! Had a wicked day, kissed a few tree's & caused a little panel damage but nothing too major
Was a little slippery in some places and given my lack of a winch the waffles were well used!
Thanks very much to all those involved with organising / running the day.
Cheers, Tinks B)

In that case definitely keep the 90 you have and whack on a truck cab - bear in mind how bloody small they are, it takes a bit of getting used to cos the seats are bolt upright due to the lack of space, ok for playing and short trips but would be uncomfortable for any real length of travel.
I did briefly consider the idea of a king cab but I dont recall having ever seen one that I really liked.
I have bucket seats in there at the min, there on runners but dont recline so reckon I should be ok.
Having a truck cab seems to have loadsa advantages as well tho, like i'm thinking it will be alot easier to get the spare tyre & waffle boards in & out and that sort thing.
-
Cos if its an SW there are the seats, belts, carpets and trim panels etc as well, altho that said it still wouldnt take that long.
Your not wrong Smo, there should be all of that but mine is lacking a few of the home comforts, its ot a furry headlinning & I put carpet in the back but there is no seats or belts or any of that stuff left in mine.
-
Its probably more economical to sell your county SW and buy either a HT or a truck already, as the loss of value in converting from a CSW is quite large.
Yeah I thought about selling it.
Thing is tho its an E reg truck with a disco 200Tdi engine in it & its bright lime green (Ltd market for the colour I think ) plus given the amount of money & time I've spent on it already thought I might as well keep it?!
-
tinks,
The rear tub is the same, you remove the roof and the upper sides, rear of the front doors, then bolt the truck cab on, JD !
HTH
Mo
Wkd, thanx Mo. Sounds easy enough so its job on!
-
Is there any difference between the rear tubs on a truck cab and a county hard top?
I'm thinking of making my county 90 into a truck cab but am unsure of exactly how much of the existing body would need to be swopped over?
Cheers, Maria
