  1. Cheers for the LPG advice, Tanuki; I'd thought about it but not seriously. It's not going to be everyday transport so mpg isn't too high on my list of worries but you never know. Once I start driving it I may not want to get out of it... Happyoldgit - that was fun typing - yes you found it, what do you think? Tacr2man, it's just the roof conversion. I've seen a fully spec'd dormobile - amazing stuff. Thanks for all the comments
  2. Thanks for the advice. The original idea was to have a 110 for the dog. He's a Newfoundland and needs loads of room. When we saw the dormobile conversion we thought we could kill 2 birds as we also enjoy camping. We've seen the car at Nene Overland and I've heard they can charge a bit of a premium; hence the question. I think I'll probably put in an offer and see how it goes. The BMW engine sounds fun! I'm in the UK
  3. Hi all, So...I'm going to become a first time Defender owner and I've seen a 110 dormobile for sale that I'm interested in. Some advice would be really useful as it is a bit unusual. First it has a 2.8i BMW engine. It is the M52 used in the South African models but I don't know, at the moment, if this is an original model or if it has been installed at a later date. I have inspected and rust seems to be under control on the panels and underside and the dormobile roof conversion looks new-ish and reasonably well fitted. On the surface it looks to be in good condition with 40,000 on the clock. 2 The big question is price. I don't have any experience with this sort of conversion and £16000 seems very high. I've seen an original SA 2.8 go for under 10k so the extra 6k just for the dormobile conversion seems high. What does anyone think? Many thanks in advance
