  2. Hi I have just bought a 1999 Freelander with the L series 2ltr Diesel engine, and after buying it privately on the motorway at 120 kph approx 3000rpm, had a lot of blue smoke (Oil not diesel) coming from the exhaust, pulled over and checked and found no problems, drove at normal speeds for about 3 weeks & no more smoke at all, then took my wife to the airport and at 120 kph had the same prob, so slowed down to about 110 drove 80 kilometers and no more smoke, then 2 days ago drove at 120kph/3000rpm for about 5 kilometers no problem then came to a roundabout, slowed selected 1st gear pulled away but b4 getting into 2nd the engine revd to around 6000rpm loads of blue smoke, i tried to turn off ign but nothing so eventually got it into gear & stalled it, afterwards turned the key it started & no probs since, i went on line to see if i could find the reason for this and found that it had proberly been running on the engine oil, i checked the day before and on the line after this episode i had to put about 1/2 a liter in, could it possibly be the EGR system that is causing this problem, any help would be appreciated
