  1. Hi guys, Have a 2003 2.5 V6 Freelander with 77000 on the clock. Been driving great but today the temp guage went a little erratic so pulled up at home only to hear the fan whirring after switching engine off. Checked the coolant expansion tank and it was empty. Left the vehicle to cool down and topped it up with 50/50 coolant/water. (Took about a litre and a half). After driving again the same thing happened but when I unscrewed the coolant expansion tank cap this time it started to fill up again from below. It seems that when I run the car the expansion tank runs dry but when I stop and unscrew the cap it fills up again. Is there an air block or is it just a case of not enough coolant in the system? There are absolutely no signs of "mayo" or residue in any of the usual places I read you should check for HGF, (Think the 1.8 is more susceptible to HGF) no white smoke or water coming out of the exhaust and no signs of leakage anywhere on the road. Any suggestions as to what is happening and why? And even moreso, how do I fix it? Cheers. NB Have just taken another look and have noticed that when the vehicle is ticking over from cold and the expansion tank has coolant in it there is a slight what seems like tiny bubbling inside. Is this normal or an indicator as to something/what is wrong? Cheers again.
