  1. Hi everyone, just a quick introduction before I ask any question. Been driving a tidy 1999 Freelander with the K series engine in it and I think it's great! We only had it for just under a year and roughly 8000 miles but it's been really good on us. The only thing we did was change a reversing light switch (£80!!!! for a bl**dy switch?!?!?) and did the cambelt and waterpump as a precaution. The car got over 120'000 miles, still has the original headgasket and doesnt show any sign of weakness (thank you Lord...) So now on to the problem. The catalytic converter is busted and is rattling around. From past experience I doubt it will pass the emission test so I must start thinking about sorting it out. Does anyone of you know if it is a requirement to have a cat to pass the MOT or is there a way to MOT a car without a cat. So far the best deal I could find far a new EU certified cat is 250 euros from a shop in France. Anyone know of someone doing better in the UK?
