  1. Just a thought, How do I tell that the axle is Stage One and not just a series 3 one without actually stripping it down? The axles are not at my property but several miles away so I only saw them to take pictures
  2. Thanks Alan, both axles are complete but have been off the vehicle for a few years so I'm not sure about wear. The front prop u/j's feel tight. As I put in my first post, these aren't my parts so I'm not really sure of the history. All I know is that the Stage one was broken for spares after an electrical fire in the cab.
  3. So what price should I put on the front axle? Should I sell them as a pair and include the front prop or sell it all individually?
  4. I did see a rear axle go on ebay this week for £180 and a front prop for £100 but have yet to see a front axle. Are they inter changeable for use on any series models or are they just specifically for Stage Ones due to diff ratios etc.? Sorry for my ignorance but I'm only used to working on Defenders.
  5. Hi all, I lost a good friend last year and his wife has finally found the strength to part with some of his collection of Land Rover parts. He was only 39 and his wife was left with 2 boys (aged 1 and 9) to bring up alone. I am trying to work out what some of these bits are worth so as to raise some money for them. I am not making any money out of this so would appreciate some help or some sensible offers if any of these parts are useful to anyone. I have owned defenders for the last 14 years so do have some idea of value but most of the parts are Stage One. Here's a list of what I've got to get rid of. Stage One -Front and rear axles, double cardon prop shaft, a pair of wings, bonnet, front door bottoms in blue with 109 decals (need weld on bottom corners), front door bottoms in white with 2 piece door cards (surface rust on frames and a bit scruffy but no welding needed), rear tub in blue, rear sides with sliding windows in blue ( window runners will need replacing), 3 fold up single seats and 4 long bench seats, 2 with galv frames(all need a good clean but no rips or tears) and a safari roof. Defender front seats, all 3 with a few splits in drivers seat and a set(4) of 235/70/16 Amazons on grey modulars with a little rust around the bolt holes but tyres are all good and have about 10mm of tread in the middle. Any offers or help with pricing the Stage One stuff would be a great help. Cheers, Nick
  6. Mickey.....The idea was to get the trim so they match the capping that is on the rear bulkhead ..purely aesthetic again. I did think of just taking the one off the drivers door and riveting a plate over the holes but then it would look like a repair job. I do intend on putting split doors on this truck as and when I can afford them and putting these on my 1986 90 as the ones on there are shot. Baz.....I'll keep you posted
  7. I'm in the process of building my trayback and have two rather good condition doors considering this is a 1984 truck, no rust at all...!! The only problem is that I'm missing the galvanised strip that runs across the middle of the passenger door (as seen on drivers door in pic )...no idea why these were fitted in the first place as they are not two piece doors and seem to serve no purpose at all..but just wondered if anyone had an old rusting door with one on going spare.
  8. maybe it's finally given up through old age. I know that feeling Western....!!
  9. Well it just goes to show........this truck cost me £450 and the chassis took a lot of welding but it's like a new one now. I'm getting to the 'running gear' stage now so expect to find plenty of headaches before it's finished.
  10. Thanks Western..just what I needed. Lee...this is still the original pipe work from 1984, it's just that I had to move the pipe over a couple of inches to get it away from the modified downpipe and now it doesn't want to make a seal...it was only a very small leak but enough to make it unable to bleed the clutch. I may as well replace the lot while I'm still in the process of building this truck as it would be a bugger if it failed when out playing
  11. Tried to bleed my clutch today and couldn't get any pressure in the system..turned out to be leaking from where the hard pipe from the master cylinder joins the flexi pipe to the slave. I tried tightening it up but it still leaked. Does anyone have the part numbers for these pipes plus I may need to replace the union that connects them together. It's a n/a 1984 90 that now has a 200tdi Disco lump
  12. Checked wiring, I had put the larger of the 2 brown wires on the wrong terminal. Reconnected it and the light now goes off when ignition is off but stays on when engine is running and gets brighter as you increase the revs.
  13. Just put disco 200tdi in my 1984 90" and seem to have the battery light on without having the ignition switched on. I guess I've wired something wrong somewhere. Any suggestions....?
  14. I noticed that there is a wire off the back of the alternator with a female spade connector that doesn't seem to go anywhere...??
