  1. hi all, right all finished parts needed were as follows headset including headgasket was about £60.00 head bolts £38.00two steel dowels £1.50 skim and pressure test was £86.00 i also replaced the thermostat £12.50 and timing chain tensioner as the nylon wear strip was broken £24.99 i would say the job was not to bad to do you can buy the timing pins for about £4.00 (found after i had done the job ) setting the injectors was easy they must go back in the same place they came from but overall the job was not as bad as i was led to believe by a local diesel specialist who then offered to do the job for me!! many thanks to all off you and sorry for the punctuation i am better with my spanners than this thing!!!
  2. head has no cracks!! plastic locating dowels were in a bad way, bores are like new ,got to regrind valves as they are a bit pitted . but other than that spoke to a specialist today about skimming and he said it is ok to skim but maximum of 10 thou only no more will be organizing new parts gaskets soon ps are there any issues with the timing chains as there are new kits for about £100 just wondered if there is an issue with any off it????????
  3. sorry about the punctuation!!! i am a one finger typer, right have removed the head today looks like number 3 and 4 are leaking into the waterjacket. head is going to be pressure tested tommorrow for cracks then the task of reasembling oh what fun. i think rad and header tank and cap is holding pressure but i think i will change the thermostat aswell
